We recently connected with Jason Scott and have shared our conversation below.
Jason, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
After 20 years of dedicated service in the U.S. Army, including multiple combat deployments, I turned my focus to helping underserved veterans through two unique avenues: the mortgage industry and motorsports.
In my professional life, I founded the Task Force Mortgage Team, specializing in helping veterans and their families achieve homeownership by leveraging their VA benefits. My dedication to providing personalized, high-quality service ensures that veterans receive the support and guidance they need to secure their financial future and find stability in civilian life.
But my commitment to veterans doesn’t stop there. I also founded TFMT Racing, a program that provides a therapeutic outlet for veterans and first responders through motorsports. By placing them behind the wheel or as part of a racing team, TFMT Racing offers these heroes a sense of camaraderie and purpose, helping them cope with the transition to civilian life.
Through both my mortgage team and racing program, I continue to serve the veteran community, offering support, stability, and a sense of belonging to those who have sacrificed so much for their country. My dual approach combines financial security and emotional healing, ensuring that veterans are well-equipped to navigate the challenges of post-service life.
Jason, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Aloha! I’m Jason C. Scott, a retired Combat US Army SFC with over 20 years of service, including multiple combat deployments. Prior to retiring in 2015, I began my mortgage career thanks to a loan officer who helped me buy my second home. He asked about my plans post-retirement and thought I’d make an excellent loan officer due to my understanding of “the math” and my passion for teaching others.
I started my mortgage journey with Veterans United, where I became one of the top originators in the country within three years. I was then recruited by Guaranteed Rate, where I continued to grow and ultimately earned the role of Director of Veteran Lending. In this role, I shared my talents with other originators to help even more veterans achieve homeownership. After six years with Guaranteed Rate, I seized the opportunity to move to CrossCountry Mortgage, where the idea for the Task Force Mortgage Team was formed. In 2022, Task Force Mortgage Team was created.
At Task Force Mortgage Team, we specialize in helping veterans and their families achieve homeownership by leveraging their VA benefits. We provide personalized, high-quality service, guiding clients through the mortgage process to secure their financial future. Our goal is to simplify home financing and ensure veterans receive the support they need.
In addition to my mortgage work, I founded TFMT Racing in the same year that the Task Force Mortgage Team was created. Although I had always been involved with the veteran community prior to this, TFMT Racing allowed me to help those who needed more than just traditional medical assistance. This program provides a therapeutic outlet for veterans and first responders through motorsports. By involving them in racing, we provide a sense of camaraderie and purpose, helping them transition to civilian life with a supportive community.
What sets us apart is our dual approach to serving veterans: combining financial stability with emotional healing. I am most proud of our impact on the veteran community, offering both support and a sense of belonging. Potential clients and followers should know that our mission is to empower and assist veterans, ensuring they have the resources and support they need to thrive.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
The three books that have profoundly impacted my business and personal life are:
The Go-Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann: This book teaches the power of giving and how providing value to others can lead to unexpected and remarkable returns. It emphasizes the importance of a generous mindset in both business and life.
Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki: This classic offers invaluable lessons on financial literacy, investing, and thinking differently about money. It changed my perspective on wealth-building and entrepreneurship.
How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie: This timeless guide provides strategies for effective communication and building strong, positive relationships. It has been instrumental in shaping my approach to leadership and interpersonal interactions.
I make these books required reading for anyone who joins our team. It’s important to me that they understand and implement what these books teach in order to convey this to our clients. I also recommend them to the personnel who have helped me with TFMT Racing and highly recommend them to everyone on that team as well. These resources have shaped my management style and entrepreneurial philosophy, providing me with tools and insights to succeed in both business and life.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building my social media audience was a journey rooted in authenticity, consistency, and engagement. I started by sharing my story, expertise, and passion for helping veterans through my mortgage career and TFMT Racing. By consistently posting valuable content, engaging with my followers, and leveraging my network, I was able to grow a dedicated audience.
For those just starting to build their social media presence, here’s my advice:
Be Authentic: Share your story and passions genuinely. People connect with authenticity.
Consistent Posting: Regularly post content that adds value to your audience.
Engage: Respond to comments, messages, and engage with your followers’ content.
Network: Leverage your existing network and collaborate with others in your field.
Educate and Inspire: Share content that educates, inspires, and resonates with your audience.
Building a social media presence takes time and dedication, but by staying true to your mission and consistently engaging with your audience, you can create a strong and supportive community.
