Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jason Ross. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jason, thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
My wife and I have always loved people. To be honest, sometimes to a fault. Our goal in life was always to have a great family and be surrounded with people we could serve and love on. As we worked our way through ministry school and then jumping into a few already established ministries, we fell in love with loving people. But as our family grew (now 3 children ages 9,6, and 4), we noticed a difficulty in expanding the financial side of our life. We started to see that our goals in life were not being met because our finances could not provide that type of life for us anymore. instead of saving and investing, we were putting what little we had towards diapers, our kids outgrown clothes, and an ever growing grocery budget. (our kids belly are a bottomless pit). We were in need. But as I learned long ago, life doesn’t offer you up more just because you whine about it. Instead, life can present beautiful opportunities as we push for solutions. As my wife and I discussed and prayed about our situation, we tried to create an outlet where what we had learned the past 10 years of our life could serve others. Where our core values could be a blessing for business owners. That’s when we it hit me. What does every business in the world need – ADVERTISING. Thus, Ross Ad Solutions was born. We began by partnering with local businesses by putting advertising TV’s in their store fronts. As a trade off, they get a year of free advertising with us on any of our other screens. with out business being just over a year old, we have 5 locations, have been able to serve people in the community we would n to have been able to before, and add a steady revenue stream to our house hold that allows us to each our goals. we are still learning a lot and the business is still young, but this part of our life we have put into motion has already began making an impact not just on our life, but in the lives of those we do. business with. I guess you could say, it’s not about the business for us, its about the outlet to share love and servanthood to all those we can.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My Wife and I met in a Bible internship called Applied Life Leaders Academy. We over the years grew close and eventually got married. we never really saw ourselves in sales and advertising however we have always been in the business of serving people. Ross Ad Solutions allows us to do that. We specialize in local advertising where we have digital signage in local, high traffic businesses and run ad spots on them. We take a different yet effective approach to advertising. Billboards are effective and we have nothing against them or those who operate that type of business., but we live in a world of screens. How much more effective for you to have an ad spot that’s seen not in passing, but on the screen in front of you while you are eating, having coffee, strolling around downtown. 40% of retailers say that digital signage is an essential part of their in-store experience. 68% of customers say that digital signage would make them more likely to buy advertised products. We are not selling, we are serving. We deep dive in to our customers needs and market them where they need to be. we have 5 high traffic locations now. our trajectory at this pace will be to have 10 locations by the end of 2025 and 25-30 locations by the end of 2026. That’s why our slogan is and will always remain – “Ross Ad Solutions- Transformative Advertising”

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One thing we had to “unlearn” as we took on this business is how we view our fiscal value. The ministry mindset translates in values but the charity mindset will not carry a business to your goals. Our temptation was to give discounts galore so we could bless as many people as possible, however we discovered that not is way more beneficial and powerful to give on the backside out of the profits rather than hurt the company. Ross Ad Solutions will always have the core value of giving and serving, but giving does not mean making the business suffer. When the business suffers, you cut off your supply line of giving and helping others. I guess in short, it was an interesting transition from a “non-profit” mindset to a “for-profit” mindset.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Values. There is no substitute for doing what you say you are going to do. I actually find success relatively easy when you live in a world where cutting corners is the norm. Be Honest, Be transparent, Be a person of your word, Be humble, Think about the customer first. these things alone will separate a business in today’s world and make you stand out. It sounds old school, but there is no substitute for doing things right and/or making things right.
