We recently connected with Jason Moore and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jason, thanks for joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
They instilled in me a strong work ethic and to be resilient in my pursuit of what I wanted out of life.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Jason Moore, and I serve as the Lead Pastor of Gathering on The Rock Church in Rowlett, Texas—a diverse, multigenerational church committed to helping people experience and expand God’s Kingdom Agenda in every area of life.
My journey into ministry came through a life radically changed by God’s grace. From incarceration to leadership, my story is one of redemption, purpose, and restoration. That experience fuels my passion to lead with authenticity and serve people from all walks of life.
At Gathering on The Rock, we offer more than worship services—we provide practical discipleship, leadership development, community outreach, and support for marriages and returning citizens. We help people grow spiritually, overcome brokenness, and step into their God-given calling.
What sets us apart is our intentional focus on transformation, relevance, and real relationships. I’m most proud of the lives being changed through our ministry—families restored, leaders developed, and hope revived.
We’re real people serving a real Savior, and we believe there’s room at the table for everyone, especially those who’ve been overlooked, broken, or searching for more.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One of the most defining moments of resilience in my journey came just weeks before the official launch of Gathering on The Rock Church. We had just signed a lease agreement for what we believed would be our first home—a space we had prayed over, planned for, and begun preparing to transform into a place of worship. Everything seemed to be falling into place.
Then, without warning, the lessor pulled out.
We were blindsided. No building. No backup plan. And only a few weeks left until our scheduled launch. It felt like the rug had been pulled out from under us.
But instead of panicking, my wife and I prayed. We rallied our team. And we got back to work—trusting that if God had called us to it, He would carry us through it. Within a short span of time, we secured a temporary space, reworked our launch plans, and moved forward with even greater conviction.
That experience reminded me that resilience isn’t just about pushing through setbacks—it’s about standing on faith when your plans fall apart. And it’s in those moments of uncertainty that God often does His greatest work. Our church was birthed not from comfort, but from perseverance—and that has shaped who we are to this day.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the idea that “if you build it, they will come.” Early in the journey of launching Gathering on The Rock Church, I believed that if we had a solid vision, a powerful message, and a physical space, people would naturally show up and stay. I poured myself into preparing the space, the sermons, and the structure—thinking that excellence alone would guarantee growth.
But after launch, I quickly realized that buildings don’t attract people—relationships do. Vision doesn’t spread itself—people carry it. I had to unlearn the mindset that success in ministry was about simply opening the doors and expecting crowds. I learned that reaching people requires intentional connection, follow-up, consistency, and genuine care beyond the pulpit.
That shift in thinking changed everything. We became more focused on discipleship than attendance, more committed to community than just crowds. And as a result, God began to send not just people, but purpose-filled relationships that continue to shape our church culture today.
