We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jason Monczka a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jason thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful, you have to do what most others aren’t willing to do—consistently act in the best interest of your client, even when it takes more time, more effort, and more care.
My background is in construction. When I exited the last company I started, I didn’t go looking for a career in insurance—I was pulled into it by business owners in my network who trusted me. That gave me a unique advantage: I approached commercial insurance with the mindset of a business owner, not a broker.
What I quickly discovered was eye-opening. Most business owners feel underserved by their insurance broker—and for good reason. Many brokers either lack the resources or simply don’t invest the effort to dig deep and act strategically. Instead, they renew policies and move on, missing major opportunities to protect and strengthen the businesses they serve.
Success for me has come by doing the opposite. I lead with emotional intelligence. I listen, I learn the business, and I build a plan. I tell every potential client that my goal is to help reduce their insurance spend by 30% over three years. In reality, I often exceed that. But more importantly, I restore trust in the broker-client relationship.
The formula is simple but rare: do what’s right for the client—always. That’s how you build real, long-term success in any industry.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
First and foremost, I’m a dad to the two most amazing daughters—and everything I do is driven by the desire to make a real, lasting impact for them and for others. I’ve spent over 25 years helping businesses cut through the noise, connect with the right people, and unlock hidden value in places most don’t even think to look.
I didn’t grow up in insurance. I built companies in construction, learned the hard way what business owners really need, and realized just how broken the insurance process can be. That’s my motivation—to simplify it, fix it, and protect the people who build and grow real businesses.
Today, I specialize in both group health and commercial insurance for mid-market companies. I uncover inefficiencies, eliminate waste, and consolidate coverage in a way that often saves my clients 20–30%—sometimes overnight. But more than that, I simplify the entire process and give business owners back their time and peace of mind.
I don’t believe in suits, jargon, or slow responses. I believe in straight talk, fast action, and real results. What sets me apart is a deep commitment to relationships—I’ve built a trusted network of business owners and CEOs who know I’ll always do the right thing, not the easy thing.
What I’m most proud of? Earning the trust of smart, hard-working business leaders who rely on me to protect what they’ve built. I add value in two ways: by delivering measurable savings and clarity—and by connecting great people with great opportunities.
At the end of the day, my work is about doing what’s right and creating real impact. That’s the brand, the mission, and the promise.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I believe in an “old school” approach to relationships—real conversations, personal connections, and delivering consistent value without the fluff. I stay in touch with my clients the same way I’ve built my career: by showing up, staying present, and making sure they know I’m here for more than just a policy renewal.
One of the ways I foster loyalty is through curated, high-level events that bring business owners together for meaningful conversations and powerful connections. I personally invite each attendee based on who I know, what they do, and where I believe value can be created between them.
This year, I launched Visionary Voices: A Quarterly Series—an invite-only event that tackles relevant, forward-looking business topics. Our next event, What You Need to Know About AI, NOW, is on September 25th and features global-level panelists and a powerhouse moderator. We consistently attract over 150 business owners—not through ads or automation, but through relationships.
That’s how I stay connected. I invest in my clients, elevate their thinking, and create opportunities for them to grow their business. That kind of value builds loyalty far beyond a logo or a tagline.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe your reputation is built with intention. The real question isn’t just how you build it—but what you want to be known for—and then making every decision align with that.
For me, I’ve always wanted to be known for honesty, transparency, loyalty, and a genuine commitment to helping other good people succeed. That’s the standard. And I hold myself to it every day.
One mindset keeps me grounded: Would my daughters be proud of me if they saw how I handled this conversation, this decision, or this person? That question keeps me aligned, even when things get difficult. It keeps my ego out of the way and my priorities clear.
Reputation isn’t built through marketing—it’s built through consistency, character, and how you treat people when no one’s watching. That’s what’s earned me trust in this market, and that’s the legacy I’m committed to building.
