We recently connected with Jason Luntz and have shared our conversation below.
Jason, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Growing up in the diverse environment of Roselle, NJ, and later making Nashville, TN my home, I’ve always been surrounded by a rich tapestry of stories. With a Black Christian mother and a White Jewish father, my upbringing was a blend of cultures, traditions, and narratives. This unique background not only shaped my worldview but also instilled in me the importance of representation and voice.
As I delved into the world of media relations, social media, web design, and journalism, I noticed a glaring gap. Small and medium businesses, brimming with passion and potential, often struggled to find their voice in the vast digital landscape. They lacked the tools and platforms that larger corporations had easy access to. This realization hit me like a beat from a Hip Hop track – powerful and undeniable.
I envisioned UrVoyce: New Media Agency as a beacon for these businesses. A platform where they could harness the power of online and offline marketing tools, just like the big players. The emotion driving this venture? A deep-seated passion to level the playing field and ensure every business, regardless of its size, had a fighting chance in the digital age.
The logic was clear: In an era where storytelling is paramount, every business has a unique tale to tell. By offering tailored media solutions, UrVoyce could help these businesses narrate their stories effectively and authentically. And what excited me the most? The prospect of unearthing and amplifying these hidden gems.
In essence, UrVoyce wasn’t just about offering services; it was about championing a movement. A movement where every business, no matter how small, could stand tall, share its narrative, and make an impact.
Jason, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Seven years ago, driven by a passion to bridge the gap between small businesses and the vast digital world, I founded UrVoyce: New Media Agency. Our mission? To ensure that every business, regardless of its size, has access to top-tier online and offline marketing tools. We’re not just a media agency; we’re storytellers, digital architects, and brand builders. From crafting compelling content to designing dynamic websites, we offer a holistic approach to digital marketing.
What sets us apart? It’s our commitment to authenticity. In a world saturated with generic content, we believe in the power of genuine stories. We’re here to amplify the unique voice of every business, ensuring they resonate with their target audience. And trust me, when it comes to storytelling, we’re the Jedi Masters of the craft. (Yep, I’m a massive Star Wars fan!)
I’m incredibly proud of the community we’ve built at UrVoyce. Every project, every campaign, and every collaboration is a testament to our dedication and passion. But beyond the accolades and achievements, it’s the relationships we’ve forged and the stories we’ve told that truly define us.
To all potential clients, followers, and fans: Know that with UrVoyce, you’re not just getting a service; you’re joining a movement. A movement that champions authenticity, creativity, and impact. So, whether you’re a budding entrepreneur or an established brand, let’s craft your story together. And trust me, it’s going to be legendary.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Building an audience on social media is much like crafting a hit track – it requires rhythm, authenticity, and a touch of creativity. When I first ventured into the vast world of social media, I was determined to make @thejluntzreport not just another handle, but a community where genuine connections could thrive.
1. The Power of Questions: One of the most effective strategies I employed was simply asking questions. It might sound basic, but it’s a game-changer. Questions spark curiosity, foster engagement, and create a two-way conversation. Instead of broadcasting messages, I was inviting my audience to share their thoughts, experiences, and insights. This not only boosted engagement but also helped me understand my audience better. It’s like a DJ reading the room – you’ve got to feel the vibe and adjust accordingly.
2. Embracing Authenticity: In an age where polished photos and curated feeds are the norm, I chose a different path. I shared my story – the highs, the lows, the challenges, and the triumphs. From my East Coast Hip Hop playlists to my deep love for Star Wars, I let my personality shine through. And guess what? People gravitated towards that authentic voice. In a sea of filters and facades, authenticity stands out. It’s the Neo Soul in a world of auto-tuned tracks.
Building a social media presence isn’t just about numbers; it’s about connections. My advice to those just starting out? Be genuine, be consistent, and most importantly, be yourself. Social media is a platform, but it’s the stories and authenticity that turn it into a community.
And remember, just like in the world of music, it’s not about how loud you shout, but the rhythm and flow of your message. So, find your beat, embrace your unique voice, and let the world hear your story.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Absolutely! My journey as an entrepreneur and leader has been significantly influenced by a blend of books, videos, and local resources. Here are a few that have left an indelible mark on my management philosophy:
1. “Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook” by Gary Vaynerchuk: This book was a game-changer for me. Gary V’s approach to social media marketing, emphasizing the importance of giving value before asking for anything in return, resonated deeply. It’s like laying down a solid beat before dropping the chorus – you’ve got to set the stage and connect genuinely. The book reinforced the idea that in business, as in life, it’s the consistent efforts, the “jabs,” that set the stage for the big wins.
2. Seth Godin’s Speeches: Seth Godin, with his iconic bald head and glasses, is like the Yoda of marketing. His insights on branding, leadership, and the “Purple Cow” concept of standing out have been instrumental in shaping my approach to business. Every time I watch one of his speeches, it’s timeless, profound, and always on point.
3. Nashville Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Programs: Local resources are often goldmines of knowledge, and the programs offered by the Nashville Chamber of Commerce are no exception. These programs provided me with invaluable insights into the local business landscape, networking opportunities, and tools to navigate the ever-evolving entrepreneurial world. It’s like having a backstage pass to the best gigs in town – you get access to insider knowledge, expert advice, and a community of like-minded individuals.
In essence, my entrepreneurial philosophy has been shaped by a mix of global thought leaders and local gems. Each resource, whether it’s a book, a speech, or a program, has added a unique note to my symphony of business insights. And for those looking to embark on their own entrepreneurial journey, I’d say this: Dive deep into learning, stay curious, and always be ready to dance to the rhythm of innovation.
