We were lucky to catch up with Jason Kritzberg recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jason, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
Let’s rewind to March of 2020. Covid was rampage and it was a truly uncertain time for many – including myself. I was just laid off from my job and felt hopeless. Without the help of my loving, entrepreneurial parents, I wouldn’t be where I am today. My parents pushed me to get up and start my own business. This was always something that I thought of doing in my life, but was nervous to start. With a little push, I found a new spark of excitement.
I quickly researched the best film equipment needed to start a freelance videography business, went out, and purchased the essentials: a camera, a gimbal, and a microphone set. I then took to Facebook, where I was a member of some local city community groups. I sent out messages inquiring if anyone needed a videographer for anything – events, business, etc! To my surprise, I received a message right away from a well known realtor in my city. Geeking with excitement, him and I connected and as soon as I knew it, I had my first (real) gig booked.
As real estate videography filming style was a completely new ball game to me compared to what I knew well, which was documentary and narrative filmmaking, I studied how to properly shoot and move through the house. Upon production day, I felt confident in my skills to film my first ever property – a 10 million dollar property at that! Feeling accomplished, I took my footage and meticulously pieced it together and delivered it to my client only 2 days after production.
It wasn’t until about a month later that I realized, finding my way into real estate video productions was the smartest thing I could’ve done with starting my business. Real estate video tours were essential in the beginning of Covid as it gave a way for people to virtually view an open house without leaving their homes. My business boomed and shortly thereafter, I had a full-time career managing my very own business!
Since then, my company has grown to a full service video, photo, and social media marketing agency with a team of skilled professionals, helping every industry and individual create professional marketing content & memorable event productions.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Ever since I was a child, I have always been fascinated with the world of film. From receiving my first camera as a gift in middle school, to studying film in high school in a specialized 4 year program, to then majoring in Television Production at California State University, Northridge – film has always and will always be a core part of my life.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
With a market as saturated with videographers and social media marketers as Los Angeles, it can be challenging to pave the way in this industry and get people to notice who you are the professional services you can provide. But with skill, determination, excellent testimonials, and proven results, who wouldn’t notice you? “Provide exceptional service and products and you will stay busy” – that’s been my mantra since I started my business. I’ve been very fortunate to work with incredible businesses and people who have helped me grow my business through word of mouth and sharing the products I create for them.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Other than word of mouth (which in my opinion is the best source for new clients as it is coming from trustworthy sources), my biggest source for new clients has been Fiverr. If you haven’t heard about Fiverr, let me tell you! This amazing website allows freelance creators to market their services. When they first started, everything had to be listed at $5 (hence FIVErr), but since then has allowed for any pricing to be set. Fiverr has been a huge game changer for my career and has introduced me to many amazing clients that I have been working with for years. Shoutout to Fiverr!
