We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jason Kane. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jason below.
Jason, appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
It’s hard not to sometimes think about the “what If’s” how I could of done this or that sooner or taken a different approach to my musical journey completely. But it probably would’ve been no fun at all or completely soul sucking. So at the end of the day when I think about it, everything happened right on time in its own funky way.I guess I feel If I started any sooner or later there definitely would have been a lot of opportunities and important lessons I would have missed out on.
Jason, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Jason Kane and I front the all original Hellacious Boogie Rock n Roll band Jason Kane & The Jive out of San Antonio Texas. Along with long time running Doom metal act Las Cruces. Im a Chicago transplant that has now served more time Texas and where the birth of my musical expansion begun. The Jive has been touring and tearing up the road as much as possible since things opened up. When we’re not playing live we’ve been in studio mode and currently gearing up for our 4th release (release date unknown) and upcoming tour in November. As for Las Cruces they just released their 4th album “Cosmic Tears” a tribute to our fallen brother and one of the main staples of the band. Paul Deleon. I had the honor of being a part of this Doom epic and working with the band before Paul passed. Album is found under Ripple Records.
Both bands perfectly suited for any Rock n Roll MF or music lovers of any genre.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
The way Iv approached the social media is completely organic and usually gained more followers in person and actually getting up and getting out there. Iv seen some of these bands that have bought online followers and it just looks completely goofy to me to have thousands of followers and no real interaction on the page. So I try to stay away from that type of approach and lean more towards the intimate way.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
To me some of the most rewarding things is when you meet the crowd that understands you and seeing everyone just unplug & let loose for a moment and lock in with you. Or those slight moments when you forget your on stage performing and just feel completely lost in the music. (Lost in a good way that is lol) Or when someone reaches out and says one of the songs meant something to them, Whether it’s one of our songs of gibberish or one our more personal, deeper songs.
