We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jason Joshua. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jason below.
Jason, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Well I grew up in a below low income housing for most of my young life but could never tell. My mom always had the best music taste from Soul, Funk, Salsa & Merengue & everything in between. So the inspiration for music and it’s presence was always there. I think I wanted to do this forever when I first saw Michael Jackson’s “Dirty Diana” video. I waited all night for the premiere. Micheal’s videos were so huge they would premiere on Sundays after a new episode of Simpsons on Fox.
Jason, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Jason Joshua, I go by many names like “La Voz De Oro” “El Que Soñas Con Los Ojos Abierto” “ El Principe Del Swing” but you can call me Jason. I was born in Hialeah, Florida and raised in North Miami/ Carol City & Hialeah, all boroughs of the beautiful city of Miami, Florida. I am a musician, composer, producer, instrumentalist but mostly a singer. I write & produce most of my music and for others as well. In 2020 I released my first album “Alegría y Tristeza” two weeks before the pandemic. Since then I have been working on my follow up album “La Voz De Oro” and getting ready for a world wide tour.
I’m honestly humbled by all the love that I have received period but especially on my songs including tribute tattoos, which is so special . I really love my fans & listeners, and wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them. My fans , family & God are my biggest source of inspiration. I get everything from them.
What sets me apart from the others to me is my style and my songs not to mention my live shows , I let my music do the talking.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I mean I think everyone is doing their best when it comes to being a fan or admirer of music. But standard stuff is to follow them on all social media platforms and share as much content as the artist puts out & go see them live if they play live. One of the great things about social media is that fans can reach you directly thru Direct Message, which can also be overwhelming but the ways to connect and support the artist are all there.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Creating. I’m an a musician and this is what I do and I’ll never stop. Composing music is my love language and it’s the best form of myself and it’s my way to give back to this beautiful planet.
