We were lucky to catch up with Jason Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jason, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
I am so thankful for all my customers and It makes me feel special that they decided to shop with me out of all the millions of clothing brands out there. Though I can’t repay all of my customers I do my best to show them that I’m grateful. I tend to do lots of giveaways, where I give it back to the people who have supported me over the years, At times I’ll also just give people things for free because I just feel that I need to give back to the people, I say this because they are the ones who put me in the situation where I get plenty of orders and don’t have to worry about having to work for somebody else anytime soon.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Jason Johnson I’m a 18-year-old content creator and clothing brand owner. I grew up in Savannah Georgia, but I was raised here in Atlanta Georgia as a kid I always knew I wanted to create content. I would make videos on my phone all day long and it just felt good to me. I would watch other YouTubers and I would try to replicate what they were doing though I wasn’t very successful at it at the time I got to learn from it, Which got me to where I am today.
I begin my clothing brand business in my junior year of high school I noticed that all the other kids my age were getting jobs so I decided that I would get one too, But for some reason it just didn’t feel right to me it felt as if
that wasn’t was my purpose, I now know that my purpose was to create to build to innovate and to inspire and most importantly to make something of my own and that’s exactly what I did me and a friend came together and did plenty of research on clothing lines and how to become successful at it and once we learned we decided to get a LLC and that is where “Certified Apparel” all began.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Anybody could build an audience using social media, But it does take some time, You have to be patient you also have to be 100% committed, What I did was stop worrying about the views and just start worrying about getting as much content as I could out there for my viewers to see because the more content the better!! It was times where I would literally post one video every hour on my YouTube shorts and I sometimes still do this till this day. This is why I say you have to be committed because it caused me to miss out on a lot of things. I missed lots of parties, I missed lots of having fun with my friends and going out with my family. But the end result will be worth it, Also be sure to take full advantage of all the social media platforms and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there!!

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
For me, the most effective strategy that I have used to gain clientele is networking, Networking is so important in both the content creator industry and the clothing brand industry. You have to connect with other people, because sometimes people know more than you, and sometimes you know more other people and it’s important to share the knowledge!! Another strategy I used to gain clientele is having a team you can’t always do it by yourself, Sometimes you need help and that’s OK
