We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jason Cohen . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jason below.
Alright, Jason thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I wrestled in high school and college. I always loved being in the moment. Wrestling helped me deal with my anxiety growing up. It was the only cure. While Wrestling in a match you cannot think about anything else in that moment or you’ll get taken down. It is a very mental sport. Just like life. Wrestling to me is an form of art hence the name martial arts. When my wrestling career was coming to an end I was always interested in being in the moment still. I never had so much mental and personal growth in something. As a kid I acted but didn’t think or take it seriously as a career but after really thinking about what I wanted to do for a career why not something I love. I love acting because it really keeps you in the moment. It is a really beautiful art form that keeps me in the moment.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into the industry seriously after graduating college. I started modeling, and getting small acting roles. Since then I was cast on a Netflix dating show for my up beat personality. After that I moved to california and have been taking acting classes, modeling more and collaborating with fellow artist. I also have been screen writing. Working on a full film script with a couple of very professional writers and mentors. It has been my dream it’s been a steady process but very excited to take the script to the next level. My main goal is to make a difference and inspire others.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
In my view supporting art is simple as appreciating it and possibly making art yourself. Art is meant to cause the viewer to think about a topic or be inspired to do something. I believe there are tons of inspirational stories and artist out there that make this world a better place. So support them by engaging.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My main goal is to eventually produce, write, and direct my own film or documentary. I want to submit to film festivals and just create inspiring art.
