Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jason Caldeira. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jason, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. f you needed to find a key partner or facility – how did you find them, what was the process of striking a deal like and what would you do differently knowing what you know now?
Finding key partners in the design field is key. The market is flooded with Design & Build companies and standing out as a design forward thinker is often overlooked by most homeowners. Middle class homeowners can actually afford quality designed spaces but don’t know its available. Design is not just for the wealthy anymore. The right partnerships start with builders who are skilled at there craft but don’t have a full design team inhouse and want to provide an exceptional experience to their clients. We provide design solutions that help everyone involved in the project. We find these partners though strategic outreach and relationship building by providing exceptional value.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started in the pool and landscape construction industry while earning my bachelors degree in architecture. I have had my own landscape maintenance company, outdoor living construction company, retail store for backyard accessories, and a design only firm. I have seen it all and from every angle and found my true passion is creating spaces that homeowners can vacation in during every day life just out their backdoor. Connecting people to outdoor spaces for memories and activities for the whole family. I think about the details of how things should look but also how they should feel and function from the lens of my clients. We also connect the right install team with our clients and provide on site consulting to ensure projects finish as we intended. We don’t look at the size of the project, we look at the quality of the space our clients are looking to create. No project is cookie cutter and we don’t treat them that way.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Non creative don’t understand how the best designers are able to make spaces seam/ feel effortless. The fact they don’t see the 10,000 decisions we make while creating these spaces and they only see an end result. yes they see the quality and feel the energy, but the skills to get to the 10,000 decisions mentally driven by experience in crafting those environments. People don’t see how those choices are made…even more when you turn over a new project within just a few days, they ask how much effort could it really be. those 10.000 decisions is why we like to explain what we did and why before just moving something or haphazardly change major elements around. that’s why I try to truly understand the client and the goals they want to achieve before designing a space.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I have been taught to work hard, master of my craft but for some reason i missed the importance of being part of a small group on a consistent biases. Most of my career I felt like a loan wolf when i should have been part of a small group of fellow business minded people whom i could learn from and also teach. I hired a business coach this year and it made a big difference and made me realize i should have had this network a long time ago. now I’m building that team. I’m finding some of that support within the partnerships of other business owners i have done business with.
