We were lucky to catch up with Jasmine Stallworth recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jasmine, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Beautimuse By Jazz came to life During Covid 2020. i had just given birth to my son and in the fresh off a high from getting married. during my time of living in Atlanta it was hard finding a stylist to service me 1. when my appointment was set and 2. not canceling or disappearing. i struggled a lot with keeping my self and realized a lot of women felt the same as me. in October 2020 i decided to take doing hair seriously and perfect my craft. i wanted to service women similar to me. mothers, students, hard workers who in the list of there busy schedules took the time to treat them selves without hurting there pockets. my mission with BeautiMuse By Jazz is to make every women or girl feel and look Beautiful, & that shouldn’t come with a sacrifice. i provide quality service at a discounted price, i do giveaways, free installs and even cash prizes just because. it warms my heart listening to my clients tell me about their struggles in life and how i was able to help them in any way, because i was that woman, i’m still that woman and as a stylist sometimes we get so consumed in this new industry where they don’t care about the client just the money. i show my clients each day i care in my services & that’s how i was able to generate 6 figures within a year.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
my name is Jasmine i’m originally from Tampa Fl. but i’ve lived in Georgia since 2013. i graduated from the Unsinkable Albany State University with my degree in Business marketing. after college i moved to Atlanta with a job as a Marketing account Manager. during my time within my field i knew i wanted to branch off and do something for myself, i felt stuck. when covid hit and i was laid off from my job i knew then i no longer wanted to work for anyone who could dictate whether i would make money or not. i stepped out on faith and took a few lace classes to perfect my craft, i was always good with my social skills and marketing so getting my self out there was easy. i dedicated 6 consistent months of effort to grow my business including hair, wigs, products and a website. after a year i generated 6 figures, that’ was 2x my income i made the previous year. what sets me apart from others is that i’m in this to make women pretty. i say this all the time to my clients because it’s true! i make money because i’m consistent. but i charge what i do because i care. i want my clients to know that you don’t have to break the bank to feel good, you don’t have to sacrifice getting your facial or nails done in order to get your hair done, i gotchu!
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
when i first started my business i was unemployed. recently laid off and tired of working for others, but i knew in order to find my business i had to have some kind of money coming in. i was new to business credit so my capital wasn’t going to come as fast as i’d want. so while building i got a remote job. doing that i was able to put that money into my business and flip my funds. eventually the money i was making from my remote job became play money for me and my husband. after a while i was no longer putting the time into working it anymore. now my side hustle is my full time career and i’m able to now use OPM to continue to scale and grow. 1 key milestone in my business was when one’s able to move into my own salon, i knew that my hard work was paying off and another was when i hit my goal income.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
in the beginning of my business the best source for me was instagram and facebook marketplace. i would crest ads and pay instagram to promote me EVERY WEEK i didn’t care if it was $1 -$30 i paid it. on facebook market place it’s free so i used that to my advantage. believe it or not people find hair stylist on market place! i generated most of my clients from there in the beginning with consistent ads. today i hardly do promo ads because most of my new clientele is from word of mouth. i was able to build up a loyal client base who refers me to every one that i no longer need to go as hard as i did and for that i’m grateful.
