We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jasmine Smith a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jasmine thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Before I started Passionately Kreative, as a consumer I realized that the customer service in the hospitality industry was declining at a rapid pace. You’re seen as a dollar sign given the bare minimum service. Being a person who is imperative to details I knew that my customers would be considered family and given custom experiences. Which is why I never pressure customers to buy anything, and I want you to sample before you buy. I will always go out of my way to build and maintain relationships with my customers.

My name is Chef Jae I am the CEO and chef behind Passionately Kreative, a local mobile bakery in the Atlanta area. Just a little bit about me. I am a certified Chef; I have been working professionally in the culinary industry for over 8 years. I am a Philadelphia native as well as an alumna of Clark Atlanta University and obtain a culinary arts degree specializing in baking and pastry from Gwinnett Technical College. It was my junior year at Clark Atlanta University, and I wasn’t satisfied with where I was. I was too close to finishing to start over, so I made up my mind to take some business classes because I always knew I wanted to own my own business. After graduation, I went straight to culinary school. I remember in my baking class; my chef told me she wanted me to stick with this because I had a knack for baking. I bought a kitchen aid mixer and fell in love every kitchen I worked in people knew me for dessert especially cupcakes. Passionately Kreative is big on bold flavors and creating genuine valued relationships with our customers. We create sophisticated treats and take them to the next level. We offer Custom gourmet treats which we tailor to create customized treat boxes, our signature flavor cake jars are like no other, we also offer our cake cocktail cake jars when you’re in the mood to feel lavish, glam berries, cake pops, chocolate Oreos, popcorn, custom cakes, and cupcakes. At Passionately Kreative you’re not just a customer you’re family.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was every client and every event is not for you. I had to learn to build boundaries in my business and be strategic about my target audience. I used to let people call me all times of the day asking about cakes, or not charging my worth because I wanted a sale however I had to put boundaries in place to make sure people took me and my business seriously my clients know I am not the chef to call for last minute cake orders and at a certain time I will respond to business inquires the following day.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn was social media is an important tool however, it can be a gift and a curse do not compare your businesses to others. Success does not come overnight, and you cannot believe everything you see on social media just because it worked for them it may not work for you.
