We recently connected with Jasmine Reid and have shared our conversation below.
Jasmine, appreciate you joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
The legacy I hope to build will be like storytellers of old. Where you can view my work and be not only entertained, but you will feel something, you will learn something about yourself or even others around you. You will hopefully open your heart and mind to new experiences and points of view. I hope people will have positive things to say, that they will see I want to change the world and even though I am a flawed person like everyone else, I want to give someone hope and understanding. And if I only changed ONE life for the better, i will be happy.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have always wanted to use my creative voice, though I was often encouraged to do otherwise. When I was younger, my writing talent was noticed by everyone from teachers, to my parents, and friends and it came naturally to me. I noticed my work would affect others, make them feel something, or change their minds. I got into the industry through writing, knowing that I wanted others to see my stories come to life. I grew up with cameras and taking pictures, and once I got a video camera and YouTube came about, I began making videos and my creativity blossomed more. I not only want to share my stories, I want to share the stories of others around me. And help them reach their goals. Whether through commercials, music videos, instructional videos, or short or feature films, I want to help others tell their stories. I will come up with creative solutions to bring thier vision to life and make their impact more profound. I a proud to help get other’s stories out into the world, a music video to convey the artist’s message clearly, or help someone educate potential clients and influence sales of a product. Or to help some with a great story but do not know how to get it told, out in the world. I want to help others find their voice and express it in the best creative ways.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Watching stories come to life, is what is rewarding. Knowing the stories will have an impact and change someone’s life. That someone will be moved to call that person they hadn’t spoken to in a while. Or they will learn they can life without that toxic person and make moves to change. That someone somewhere will be entertained and motivated to make moves to change their life to shine for the better.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I had to unlearn was, to stop allowing others to affect my decisions negatively. I had to learn to come up with creative solutions in case something went sideways with my plan. I learned to have backup plans for backup plans. On a film I was working on, we had several stretches of bad news one after the other, so I had to come up with a solution, sometimes on the fly, to work around it. I would ask the talent their opinions because it does affect them as well. So I learned to have backup plans for backup plans. I learned to take a deep breath and think of solutions i can control and roll with itt. It might end up better than the initial plan.
