Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jasmine Monk. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jasmine, appreciate you joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
I remember when I told my husband a few years ago that I wanted to start a business and be home with my oldest Princess Zia. I had a great career as a General Manager in the entertainment industry and I couldn’t do the hours or weekends anymore and my husband was on the road with our trucking business driving trucks. We were not bringing home much money with the trucking business (it was a new business for us). We did some research and stumbled across the Virtual Assistant industry by accident. We took the risk and invested and poured our energy into it. Being remote AND my own boss made it CLEAR to me that being home with my family was exactly what I wanted, and I would do anything to make it happen.
Success was the only option for me. I swallowed my fears, took the risk and went all in. I have never looked back. It was because of that risk and grit that I now have the luxury to lounge in bed with my baby in the middle of the day and not have to worry about missing a milestone all while still being able to contribute towards our family’s finances.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

Jasmine & Co is a one-stop shop for small business owners offering General administration, Marketing & Tech services. Our goal is to help business owners reach their maximum potential in their business and I take pride in that. It is a very rewarding feeling when business owners reach out and they are ready to take the next step in their business by bringing my agency onboard so they can focus on productivity and growth.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Honestly, building connections, networking and being authentic in the process. When I first started Jasmine & Co, I levered Facebook Groups and positioned myself as the expert in my field. It was then that I started building lifelong relationships and making connections that started referring me to others that needed my service. Sometimes, those connections hadn’t worked with me before but we when we networked, there was an instant connection and they believed in the service I was providing and the value.
When I was meeting new people, I didn’t go in with the mindset of them being a client, I left the offer on the table. It’s good to build your network, you never know who you will meet or what will happen in the future.
There is nothing worse than when business owners are not genuine and are salesy. Being a good steward goes a long way. You never know, the person you just networked with might not become your client, they might pave the way toward your next big deal!
Make connections and build relationships, it could be the make or break for your business!
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Managing a team is a commitment and you have to be willing to slow down and take the time to get your team members onboarded and oriented with your business.
Your team will go as far as you will if you’re leading by example. If you take short cuts, they will take short cuts. If you jump leaps and bounds for your team, they will do the same for you.
Be consistent and set your team up for success. Have a clear vision and goal and let your team know their role in the process of the company achieving those goals.
Be a leader – guide your team. It’s your business and your vision – they are only there to help you maximize profits.
Know what you are outsourcing and have a plan.
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go hard, build a team.”
