We were lucky to catch up with Jasmine Meadows recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jasmine , appreciate you joining us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
Something I will continue to preach and reiterate to anyone who asks is how amazing it was to have parents who instilled in me that I can do anything. It was the most helpful thing to remember especially after entering my 30’s. I found myself questioning what I could do, what I wanted to do and if I could do it. My parents have continued to tell me I could do anything and have supported any endeavor I found myself pursuing. This continued belief in me is how I make a lot my choices in my career as a freelancer. I think as a creative it is very important to have that type of support, and I am so grateful that it came from my parents. They are my best friends, I share all my success’ with them and credit them for a lot of what I have achieved and continue to achieve!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Jasmine Meadows, I’m 35 years old, originally from New Jersey but have been in Los Angeles for the past 8 years. I am a trained actor and a content creator. I took the leap into the content creator space during the pandemic and found myself enthralled with all it had to offer because it was uncharted territory. After pursuing acting for 5 years out here in LA it was a welcomed addition to my resume and gave me flexibility as well as a little more creative freedom. I have since worked with brands such as; Kellogg, Aveeno, Lipton, FritoLay, and many more. This has given me unmatched experience with different companies and provided insight into the ins and outs of how they are working with creators. I offer content that can be used specifically for the brands platforms and also I am able to create videos and post on my own. While still pursuing acting, I provide brands polished and creative content that help them stay relevant in the social media space and garner attention from a variety of different consumers. I have truly appreciated the growth in my most recent years, I have been tested and pushed to my limits. All the while making me even more well rounded when it comes to honing my craft and giving me a leg up in all facets of my career. On top of all that, I also started a podcast called It’s Me!, that helps people get to know the way I think and I talk about very relatable thought processes from career help to relationship issues and more. I am grateful to be able to do the things I love and also reach people in so many different ways.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Million Dollar Habits by Stellan Moreira, seems like a very cliche book or something not deemed impactful at first glance. However, this book breaks down different aspects of essentially being productive and not getting in your own way, learning different tips and mindsets and giving you a well rounded preparation for success. I found it to be really helpful and will probably read it more than a handful of times. It is one of few non fictional books I didn’t want to put down, it was easily digestible and relevant for any profession any type of person. It’s the small suggestions, broken down to make more sense as a whole. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to better themselves in their personal life as well as work life. It offers so much more than just how to become successful and that is why I love it!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist has to be the fact that I get to fall in love with different parts of myself every day because I am constantly expressing myself through my work. I continue to find out I’m good at different things, I make myself laugh and cry. I am constantly challenged as a creative which allows me to have continual growth and to become the best version of myself. In my eyes, this creates such a solid love for who I am as a person and makes me appreciate every aspect of who I am, flaws and all.
