We recently connected with Jasmine McGinnis and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jasmine thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
If I were given the opportunity to become an entrepreneur sooner than later, I would not have embarked on the opportunity at that time. I know that sounds crazy right? I am a firm believer that what is meant for you will be and everything that happens in life, happens for a reason, So let me give you a little history about myself and why I am very happy that things aligned exactly how they did and when they did.
I was born and raised in a low-income neighborhood in Northeast Ohio. I am the youngest of three and the only girl. At a very young age, I was very mature, organized and I loved school. I made Honor Roll every quarter in school from K-5th Grade. As a result, I attended a blue ribbon school until I graduated and entered high school. Unfortunately, I dropped out of High School because I became pregnant and I gave birth to my son when I was 16 years old.
Being a teen mom is not something that I would never promote or encourage any young girl to do, but my son is the reason why I am who I am today. From the moment I knew I was going to be a mom, I developed a strong worth ethic, became very independent, and determined to provide a better life for my son. I managed to return to school and graduate on-time, become self-sufficient and I learned how to become financially stable.
Those struggles are now my testimonies. I have learned so much through trial and error and despite any hurdles I was forced to jump during the process, I somehow managed to be right on-time for what was aligned for me and I have 0 regrets. Those barriers is what made me the strong, loving, educated, self-motivated woman I am today!
Now as a wife and proud mother of four, 2 girls and 2 boys, and the owner of three small businesses and the Founder of a nonprofit organization, My Story My Millions I am able to educate my children, share my struggles, and be a role model to them. I am a living testimony that it does not matter how you start but how you finish!

Jasmine, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am the owner of 3 small businesses. I started my first business in 2017. My biggest accomplishment is becoming the Founder of My Story My Millions, a nonprofit organization that is tailored to women in business. As a struggling teen mom, raised in poverty, and all odds stacked against me, I stilled managed to manifest my dreams and work hard towards creating the life I deserve.
I wanted to bring women together who may have a story of their own. To create a safe place for them to network with other like-minded women to be resourceful to one another, have accountability partners, support and motivation to pursue their dreams. Starting My Story My Millions was one for the books. It’s very rare to have a group of women working together to strive to reach one common goal-success!
Our mission is to join forces with women across the world, to be given the opportunity to share their testimonies and be living proof and motivation to other women that we can change the narrative of women in business. We stand firm behind our motto “1 Team 1 Goal 1 Vision”
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Entrepreneurship taught me the valuable lesson of patience and strategic planning. When I started my first business, a non medical home care agency, I wasted a ton of money. Essentially I had the idea but I rushed the process. Although, I thought at the time I needed an office space, employees, a marketing team and all the fancy stuff I saw more established companies have, I was wrong. What I needed was patience and a plan. Had I taken the time out to properly build out my business a create a business plan that would have outlined the proper steps to take, I would have save money and time. This was a valuable lesson learned and it has prevented me from making the same mistakes in my current and future business ventures.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of most memorable moments I had to pivot in life was when I decided to become an entrepreneur. This transition was one of the hardest challenges I had to face. I worked my entire life, since the age of 14. I was content and secured, so I thought. Leaving your for sure job and money to chase your dreams is one of the scariest yet liberating feelings in the world. Although, I was very afraid of failing and becoming homeless with children, I was able to be bigger than my fears. I was able to chase my passion and I loved doing the work. See, to me, that’s the goal! Waking up everyday doing what you love and chasing your passion, not the paycheck. That is true success!
