We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jasmine Logue a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jasmine, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope that my legacy will be to be a voice for others. I hope that me taking a stand as an African American woman in this day and age will make a difference and make a huge impact on the generations after me. I want everyone to know that it’s okay to take a stand for what you believe in and most importantly it is extremely crucial to ALWAYS follow your dreams 💕 my grandma would always tell me… your dreams only come true if you make work to make sure they come true

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hi everyone 👋🏾 For those who may not know who I am, my name is Jasmine Logue I am the Founder and Owner of Vinaabeauty, a Black Owned, Woman owned, Handcrafted cosmetics/ Skincare line where I handcraft each and every one of our products myself 💕 I am also a freelance makeup artist, I have been doing makeup for about 1-2 years now. At first it was just a fun thing to do when I was bored but now this has become not only one of my main sources of income but also a passion of mines that I’ve grown to love. I created My brand Vinaabeauty in memory of my Grandmother Melvina Reid who passed away in March 2020, I wanted to create a brand that is for any and everyone and made everyone feel beautiful no matter who you are, because that is what my grandmother stood for. She loved everyone the way they were and she always told me and my family members to be yourself no matter who has something to say about it. My brand offers a wide range of products from Lipgloss to whipped soap scrub, our website is currently being updated for our new summer launch but you can get all updates and new product alerts by following @vinaabeauty on Instagram 💕
As many of you may not know as well, I am a Mental Health Advocate and as an advocate for mental health I created a podcast where I speak about various Mental Health Topics such as Depression, Bipolar Personality Disorder, Anxiety, Ect. I personally struggle with Depression and Anxiety and I want to spread awareness for people like me who may be afraid to speak up and admit that they are struggling with a mental health disorder because they are afraid that they will be looked at a certain way or people may not want to be around them. I know what it is like to fight a silent battle, which is why I decided to break my silence and create a safe space for any and everyone to feel welcome to ask for help.
Growing up in a Caribbean household can really put a strain on your mental health because of the constant pressure to ensure success, but what I have learned in life is that “ we can’t expect success without rest “. Since I was 16 years old I was working a job that I hated but I continued to work there because in my mind I thought if I don’t start working now, I won’t be able to retire before 65. So with that I put a damper on my mental health at a really young age. It took me a long time to acknowledge the signs of my depression and anxiety and finally ask for help, but there are a lot of people out there who do suffer in silence and I just want those people to know that you are not alone, I know that it may feel like it but things will get better, with this life we love you truly just have to take things one day at a time💕 I upload new videos each and every Wednesday for wellness Wednesday on my podcast @healingthesoulwithinpodcast
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
In my own personal experience, Yes my side hustle did turn into my Full time Business. I have been doing makeup for about 1-2 years now. At first it was just a fun thing to do when I was bored but now this has become not only one of my main sources of income but also a passion of mines that I’ve grown to love. I started taking makeup seriously in my senior year of Highschool, and I would do my own makeup for senior events and then students from my school would book me to do their makeup as well. Fast track to 2022 I am the CEO of my own Cosmetics line, with two Interviews with VoyageMIA which is an extreme blessing

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I have built my audience on social media by being extremely repetitive and very vocal. I have a page for each and every one of my business endeavors and I post on the regularly. I hate to sound like a broken record but my biggest advice that I can tell anyone trying to build their social media presence is to BE CONSISTENT ! It is very crucial in building your time on social media. Another piece of advice that I would give to anyone starting to build the social media presence is that in all honesty your going to have to be a little “annoying” when it comes to getting their word out on a new product that your launching or even posting a new makeup tutorial you have to promote yourself as if you were getting paid by a brand to sell their products. When people see you excited about what you are putting out , it makes them excited and more inclined to follow your journey to see, not only what your brand offers but what you offer as well as a person. So post your content and be “annoying” because if you do not post/promote yourself then who will ?
