We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jasmine Lewis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jasmine below.
Jasmine, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
The first time I received my first client was in 2018 at an art show. Me and my best friend who is also an artist curated our first art show. It was nice for everyone to see how talented we were. Especially people we didn’t know who were locals in the area around the facility. I sold 6 paintings that day and it made me feel a lot more established than I did before. It encouraged me to start my business “JasitupArt” a few months later
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Jasmine Lewis and I am a visual/mixed media artist from Baltimore,Maryland. I’ve enjoyed doing art my whole life so far, but it was in highschool where I decided I wanted to take it seriously. I went on to college and did some art there and was able to network with other creatives. It was in 2018 where I decided to create my own art business called Jasitupart. It started off with me just creating and selling my own paintings and taking commissions, to me also creating and selling prints stickers and tote bags. I plan to extend to clothing also. In 2023 I also started to host my own sip & paints for adults and art parties for kids. I also extend my self to support others in my field whether it’s attending pop up shops or even vending events. I’m mostly proud of how I keep going even though sometimes building up your own business can be discouraging. Im also proud how I have been able to contact and showcase my art in other states. think what sets me apart is my concept of content I put out on my social media
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Networking at events has definitely played a part. Going to other art shows and entering my art in them has helped me build relationships with other artist and has helped me gain some audience from them. Also vice versa. Also having tables at vending events have gained me more clientele. Making sure my business cards are up to date had been a great solution also.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Following them on social media media. Also sending reminder emails when my events come up .
