Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jasmine Lambatan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jasmine, thanks for joining us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
If I could go back in time, I definitely wish I had started doing nails earlier in life and not been such a procrastinator! I actually began doing nails in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic started. During that time, I was also waxing eyebrows and working at a bar/club. The idea of doing nails came to me when my friend brought her nail kit to my house and challenged me to do her nails without any practice or prior experience. Surprisingly, I took on the challenge and did it. Looking back, I believe that if I had started doing nails during my high school years, I would have been further along in my career. In high school, you have a larger network of friends compared to after graduating. However, reflecting on my experience of starting my nail business, I wouldn’t change anything. I started at the right time for a reason, and I believe it was part of God’s plan. I will continue to pursue my passion for doing nails. >.<

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For those who have not heard about me before, I am a Nail Technician and Waxer. My specialty is acrylic nails, but I also offer SNS (Dip) and I am about to start doing Gel-X nails. The way I got into doing nails is quite interesting. One day during the COVID-19 pandemic, my friend Kelsey asked me to do her nails. Keep in mind, I had never done nails before in my life (never say never). I was initially unsure about how I would be able to do nails on someone without any prior experience. However, fast forward to November 10, 2020, I did her nails and they turned out incredibly cute. It looked like I had been doing nails for a long time, but I promise you, that was my very FIRST time EVER doing nails. Since then, I have been practicing on her, other friends, and family members until I felt confident enough to take on clients. Finally, on April 19, 2021, I felt comfortable enough to start taking clients, and I have been excelling at doing nails ever since! What sets me apart from others, in my opinion, is my dedication to encouraging other women to pursue their passion for doing nails. I am always there to support them every step of the way, especially if they already know how to do nails but just need that extra push to actually do them on potential clients. For instance, I have a friend who recently started doing nails, and I have been assisting her with her website, answering any questions she has, and providing advice. I want her to succeed, and I am proud to be a part of her journey. The main thing I am most proud of in myself, and what I want my clients and potential clients to know, is that I am finally doing what I have always wanted to do since I was a child watching my mom do nails. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE doing nails, and it brings me immense joy. As much as I enjoy doing nails for my clients, they love them even more when they see the final result on their own nails. <3

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience on social media by posting pictures of the nails I’ve done for my clients every chance I get. Additionally, I have friends and family who help me by reposting my work. My advice for those who are just starting to build their platform is to stay committed and consistent, even when you feel discouraged.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a nail technician is making my clients feel confident and empowered, as if they can conquer the world with their beautiful hands feeling like THAT GIRL.
