We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jasmine Jones. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jasmine below.
Alright, Jasmine thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I’ve been part of organized communities since I was a little girl. From camps to clubs, I knew that community would be a big part of my story. In January of this year, I felt like God was nudging me to create an online Christian women’s community to provide a safe space for women to boldly grow in their faith and walk in their purpose. Naively I thought He would prompt me to start it in the distant future (1-2 years down the line). But I remember He clearly told me the date was May of 2023. At that point, I was a little overwhelmed by the idea of starting a women’s community in less than 6 months, but I said a prayer and got to work. Because I’ve been a part of and leading organized communities for years, creating The Purpose Corner felt very natural. By the time we got to May of 2023, I was feeling excited, but a little stressed, because I hadn’t nailed down a name for the community. I researched the Secretary of State website high and low for business names that were available, and nothing was speaking to me. Then one day, at 3 am….I’ll never forget it…I heard God say “The Purpose Corner”. And if I’m being honest, I was not excited about that name. I felt like it was too simple and lacked a “wow” factor. And then one day I told my husband my name idea and he LOVED it. That was the confirmation I needed to move forward with naming the community “The Purpose Corner”. We launched May 24th, and haven’t looked back since!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m the founder of The Purpose Corner online Christian women’s community and a digital creator! I’ve loved being in front of the camera since I was a little girl. From creating dance shows for my family to a brief stint on a local kid’s cooking show, I’ve always been fascinated with connecting with people through creative outlets. In 2018 I finally took a leap of faith and started my Youtube channel to share my faith, relationships, and other lifestyle content. One of the things that set my heart on fire is empowering people to find the bright spots in their lives. I’ve been fortunate enough to create/experience many bright spots in my life, and it was important to help others experience the same thing. I felt led to become more active on social media in 2020, but unfortunately, I allowed fear to dictate my decisions. Finally, after many prayers and getting out of my own way, I actively started posting faith and encouragement content on social media in May of 2022. To my surprise, I had a video go viral in August of 2022 (reaching 4.3 million views) that changed everything. I realized a community of people needed to hear what I had to say. Whether it’s a funny meme or a quick tip, I’ve been on the fast track to empowering people in their faith and making them feel less alone. After leaning into gratitude instead of fear, I realized my community was something special. It’s been a beautiful journey and one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in my adult life. Creating content that inspires and uplifts others to be their best selves and, as of recently, creating a community for women to boldly grow in their faith and walk in their purpose is the biggest honor.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Oh social media. What a blessing and a challenge all at the same time lol! I’ve only been on this journey of building my audience on IG/TikTok for a year. But I’ve been building on Youtube for 4 years! My biggest pieces of advice are – 1. STAY CONSISTENT! If you’re building a brick house you have to build brick by brick. The moment you stop adding bricks is the moment you slow down the timeline of completion on the house. The same is true for social media. You never know when that one video will go viral and change the trajectory of building your audience. If you stay consistent, the right people for your community will find you. 2. If you’re a Christian, allow the Holy Spirit to lead you on what you’re posting. When I stopped doing everything based on my own understanding and collaborated with God on what I should post, I began to see success with my videos. And now, 80K+ followers later, I only post when I feel led to post. Quality over quantity will get you a lot further than you think!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Having the mindset to always serve FIRST. Meaning, that before I ask my community to buy anything from me, I am ALWAYS serving them practical and impactful free content to help them become a better version of themselves. When you lead from a place of service, you will receive a loyal community that believes in your product/service and is freely willing to tell all of their friends who you are and what you provide. It’s about looking at people as people instead of looking at them as a dollar amount.
