We were lucky to catch up with Jasmine Jenkins recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jasmine thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
In 2019, I was an assistant director for Daycare and that was the year that Covid happened. Covid made us have to shut the daycare down and I was left with no other options so I decided to go to school and get my license to become an Esthetician. I was very fascinated with the skin and I made it my passion.

Jasmine , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
2020 was a crazy year for me. I found myself without a job due to Covid. I have always worked for others helping them reach their goals while I was lost in what I wanted to do. I was always fascinated with skin, especially MINE! Look I’m 34 years old and me having adult acne was the worst. I had to figure it out and I saw that a lot of people dealt with the same skin issues. I made that my goal. I want to help everyone find what works for them and help them find their own skincare routine.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Before 2020 I was sure that I would be owning my own daycare. I was working in the childcare field for 13 years and I thought that was my passion. When 2020 began covid had taken over forced all daycare centers to close down. I was left without income and left without a plan. That year, it made me have to dig deep and really figure out my next move. This time I was going to lead with what I really wanted to do. I knew I was obsessed with skin. In particular my skin because my adult acne ran rancid. So I decided to shift my whole career and pursue esthetician school. That was the best decision I have ever made.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Having no experience in starting a business from scratch and running a business all on my own, I feel like I was in a foreign territory. I had to learn everything on my own, figure out how to balance life being a single mother of one, all while dealing with covid and what it bought. It was hard, but all my hard work finally paid off. I am going on three years of business, and with steady clientele and I have finally figured out the balance between work and family.
