Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jasmine Jeffrey . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jasmine , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One thing we always find fascinating is how differently entrepreneurs think about revenue growth and cost reductions – both can be powerful ways to improve profitability. What do you spend more of your time and energy on?
This is a double edged sword lol. I’d say growing revenue because with that, the cost will not be as impactful. The reason I’d say this is a double edged sword is because this would ultimately depend on the stage of the business. Starting with little to no capital, of course you’d be more inclined to minimize overhead as much as possible without compromising the quality of your brand. The other end of that is that some cost are critical to rapid revenue growth and the overall quality your business. Essentially revenue growth that generates a substantial return eliminates the worry of cost. That’s not to say increase cost simply because revenue has increased. Always be open to more cost efficiency opportunities so long as there are no negative changes your brands quality or reputation. Cutting cost and growth in revenue simultaneously just increases profit which is always great. When starting out, I didn’t worry about cost but I also thoroughly analyzed my return which made revenue growth more of a focus for me. In my professional experience as a Business Intelligence & Analytics Manager for a few major corporations, I’ve learned not only business logistics, but how to use data to analyst how a business can do both. I often speak to entrepreneurs about the importance of analytics to monitor areas of cost, profits, losses, budgeting and scaling based on their industry.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I love helping people so I wanted to make a business out of something else I love. I help entrepreneurs by being their one stop shop to get up and running. I thoroughly studied Supply Chains, Logistics, and how to maximize profit. I am a Business Intelligence & Analytics Manager by day. So I figured why do it in my community. I moved to Atlanta which is the Mecca of minority entrepreneurship these days and got to it. I love not only growing my network, but helping to growing peoples dreams without them getting got. I have a warehouse in China and UK where I order and store products for local business owners. The logistics side of my business is dispatching. Allocating carriers to routes sometimes for a direct client of mine while others are for a third party shipper. I love to show business owners how valuable analytics are to their business. There is a reason these corporations are paying too dollar for the data. To spread the knowledge and see how much easier it makes the lives of business owners. Seeing them streamlining their business processes is a feeling of success I can’t explain
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
There is a book called “You Can Have What You Want If You Find It Within Yourself” by Robert E Russell. I cheated and listened to the audible lol but it was a breakthrough book. Had me cry and realize I had full control of my success all along. It really teaches you how the mind, life, affirmations and laws of attraction work, AND why!
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to get out of my own way. A lot of times it was me being afraid, worry about what could go wrong and just letting the negative thoughts cause me to hesitate on going for what I wanted. Once I took control of my mind and focused on what could go right I got more attached to what I wanted as opposed to what could prevent that. From there I literally attracted it all while putting in the work. A big struggle for me was also not caring what others thought about the path I wanted to take. I grew up in very very humble beginnings and as the oldest of 10 siblings I fell into feeling I was being watched and wanted make everyone happy so that I too could be happy with them but not for me if that makes sense. I always ask myself what can I do? Who do I want to do it for? And why? I had to learn sometimes it’s ok if the who is ME
