Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jasmine Jackson-Lewis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jasmine , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Throughout my adult life, I can’t remember a time (especially at the workplace) when I was not complimented by colleagues and/or strangers on the clothing I was wearing. If the person worked in my department I already knew what they were going to say, when approached and my clothing was mentioned. “You dress so nice and I have never seen you wear the same thing twice.” Little did they know, I most certainly wear my clothing more than once. I am just really good with styling and wearing clothing in different ways each time. Like most people, the Pandemic for me was an eye opening experience. An opener into my dreams and aspirations-to most certainly get started on whatsoever I had been putting off. I decided to open an online boutique.
Plusher Chic Boutique has been open for a little over a year and is doing great. However, with the opening of my boutique another idea that I never knew I had a passion for began to blossom. After hiring my first model to be photographed wearing Plusher Chic clothing for our website – Plusher Chic Modeling Agency was born.
I signed model Kim Kay, who is now my brand ambassador in October 2022. Kim Kay has given me a chance to display my styles and expertise in ways I only once dream of. Kim Kay is a force nature representing plus size women everywhere. Since signing Kim Kay, I have gone on to sign five additional models (Gracie Webb, Karin Hammond, Angela Buchanan, Adrianna Auguste, and Kisha Dockery) who all represent their own individual area in modeling. Each model has allowed me to approach my gift for styling, all while challenging me to be able to cater to their individualism and I must say it’s exciting.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As mentioned before, I decided to branch into the modeling industry after opening my online boutique…Plusher Chic Boutique! I’ve always loved to style clothing and wanted the opportunity to style others. Due to Plusher Chic Boutique growing such a big following in less than a year, I have been blessed to have some amazing opportunities such as; styling celebrity millionaire coach, Tammy Price, presented at the B. Fab Magazine (Color Party Fashion Show), featured in Hope Magazine and Voyage Dallas, and guest speaker on Hope Chat Live w/ Angelia Stone.
All of these opportunities have been amazing but with bigger opportunities come bigger responsibilities. My products, services and creativity are now developing in ways unimaginable. I now find myself eating, breathing and sleeping with Plusher Chic Boutique & Modeling Agency constantly on my mind. In today’s society you’re constantly revamping your brand and/or figuring out new ways to separate your business from the rest. I now know what the saying “if you do something you love, you’ll never feel like you’re working” means, because this area (fashion/content) comes very easy to me and I LOVE IT!!!
I am most proud of being able to give women ages 30-50 a chance to model, see their beauty, and pursue their passions in an area, that they once believed was over for them. Plusher Chic Modeling Agency has six signed models on our roster.
Kim Kay: Is Plusher Chic’s Brand Ambassador. Ms. Kay is a fashion model born and raised in Indiana. Ms. Kay is a plus-size African-American model, who is comfortable and confident modeling in all areas in fashion. Ms. Kay is organized and gets along well with people.

The main things I want potential clients, followers, and/or fans to know about me is I’m always evolving, Like myself, I feel your clothing and style should always evolve as well. Therefore, you can count on Plusher Chic Boutique to always have the hottest fashion and Plusher Chic Boutique “Models” to always bring confidence, experience, and great energy into any shoot or opportunity they’re apart of.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience on social media by first researching and listening to what “my audience” liked and what was missing in boutiques currently. What I found wasn’t as complex as I initially thought it would be. Many boutiques offered the same product. What really stood out is many online boutiques had the same catalog models from the vendors on their website selling their clothing. I understand that presentation is everything. Therefore, the number one thing I knew I would do is have my own models, that represent everyday women, and styled them with classy, fierce, affordable high fashion.
Plusher Chic Boutique offers many products and I preferred to have my own models represent and photograph in each product. Therefore, the Plusher Chic Modeling Agency was developed as a necessity. Plusher Chic Boutique serves the model by supplying income, opportunities and grow their portfolio and Plusher Chic’s models serve by growing our audience on social media by reaching more followers and expanding our social media.
I would advise those just starting to build their social media to keep finding new ways to improve any issues they may experience by, listening to your current audience, research your market constantly, and invest in your business.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I actually practice resilience through each launch. Plusher Chic Boutique launches a new collection during each season. It’s a lot of hard work that goes into running a boutique and managing six models. Especially, when launching new collections four times a year. One thing I’ve learned is, if it can go wrong it will! The best thing you can do is recover and keep pushing. One way I find it easy to recover is staying organized and planning ahead, this helps me to prepare for any mishaps that can happen along the way.
I’m a corporate paralegal by profession. The B. Fab Magazine (Fashion Show Color Party) was scheduled during a time when my firm had a huge Trial and I could not take off of work. Therefore, I made a point to communicate with the presenter and production staff as much as possible leading up to the Fashion Show. I was able to delegate all responsibilities to our Brand Ambassador. Ms. Kim Kay did an amazing job stepping up and assisting other models and through normal issues during all fashion shows, Ms. Kay was able to rectify the situation immediately and made sure our portion of the show was flawless through the eyes of the audience.
