We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jasmine Jackson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jasmine below.
Alright, Jasmine thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
The greatest piece of advice that I have ever given a client is to refocus their lens from everyone and everything else to themselves. As women, we pile on many things and we are many people to others which ultimately leads to us pushing ourselves into the background. We begin to diminish ourselves to help build or cater to other’s; being a resource is not the issue, forgetting who you are, forgetting to add in self-care, mindfulness, and exercise becomes the problem. People pour into everyone and think someone else will pour back into them, but what happens when other’s do not have the same capacity to refill you? YOU HAVE TO DO IT YOURSELF. My advice is Sis, Chase Yourself! I created a journal that is available on Amazon that encompasses goal-setting, mindfulness, and gratitude journaling to help push and promote my clients to really become aware of self and to love on themselves again. I had a client who was stuck in a job, stuck with negative thoughts, and needed a little of my coaching. After two months, this client had a better mindset, she set a goal for a new position, and was able to obtain her new position during month three of coaching. Shortly after, she had to stop receiving coaching, but she still checks in and advises she still uses her resources to re-route negative thoughts and uses gratitude, affirmations, and journaling to help her through her journey to self.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Jasmine Jackson, and I am a highly effective, certified Life Coach. My passion is helping women to rediscovery their self-worth, self-esteem, and self-perception by coaching them through healing, I value being a resource for women who have dealt with relationship trauma, familial trauma, dealing with overworking, and feeling overwhelmingly underappreciated in life. I teach women to how to create vibrant, healthy lifestyles, reach their goals, and help women to discover their lane.
As a young woman, I’ve been through some of the craziest situations and relationships. If anyone understands being broken, disgusted, tired of the same cycles of ups, downs, and feeling like you wanted more, it was me.
At 28-years-old, I was a side chick with a baby daddy, overweight, and running away from my own shadows. That was the last birthday that I would ever be down and out. I sprinted straight for the gold with myself, I lost 90 pounds naturally, completed my life coach certification, broke up with my excuses and the man that I was in love with because damn it… I loved me more…
At 30 and 31, I have written and produced a printable journal called “Capturing & Renewing Mind, Body, and Soul” and one hardcopy journal entitled “Sis, Chase Yourself” to help women who look like me and experienced similar situations reclaim themselves and their throne.
Today, I am free. I am happy and I am tapping into my full, divine self. Allow me to help you transition into a new goddess full of happiness, positive goal-setting, and overall mentally, physically, and emotionally healthy!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson that I had to unlearn was holding in the way I feel and hiding my voice and thoughts to make sure those around me are OK. Sometimes, we learn to cry alone, struggle alone, and deal with life alone without making a sound. However, once I got into therapy and started acquainting myself with coaching tools and resources, I realized that my voice matters, my concerns are valid, and I matter.
I am the eldest of three girls and that comes with a lot of responsibilities that you do not sign up for. I found strength in looking strong and crying while my mother or sisters were sleep just from being overwhelmed. Other people’s energy overwhelms me and at the time, I would just deal with it after everyone was sleep, but it led me to anxiety attacks. I had to unlearn allowing negative thoughts to take over, unlearn that having an opinion, and unlearn people pleasing.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Education is lifelong concept that I live by and in this profession, I believe you have to be willing to continue to learn more, continue to study, figure out what solutions and resources you can offer to your clients. As long as a life coach or counselor continues to chase their education and resources, they will be able to assist and educate others.
