My journey began in a small salon at 14years old assisting my mother’s bestfriend’s salon she owned , where I spent countless hours learning from seasoned stylists who taught me the craft, the techniques, and, most importantly, the importance of listening to clients. Over the years, I honed her skills, gaining certification after certification, learning from industry leaders, and experimenting with new styles and trends. But what set me apart was her deep commitment to making every client feel heard, understood, and valued.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
A Pivot That Changed Everything
At 24, I was working as a commission stylist—overworked, burnt out, and constantly pushed to move faster, finish quicker, and fit in more. I never took days off. Even when I got sick for the first time, I showed up because the salon was busy and “needed me.”
That day changed my life.
I cut my finger badly on my knuckle (6 staples) doctor said i needed to stop working for a month to let my finger heal -while working on my first client when i was sick. I was in pain, physically and emotionally, and all I felt from management was pressure to keep going. That’s when I realized: they didn’t value me, and they definitely didn’t care about my well-being.
So I made a choice.
I walked away from the salon and took time off—not just from work, but to reflect. Honestly, I wasn’t even sure I wanted to do hair anymore. I questioned everything. But deep down, I knew I loved the craft—I just didn’t love how it was being forced on me.
That’s when I decided to bet on myself.
I launched my own business, and everything changed. I found joy again. I got to work on my own time, create meaningful connections, and fall back in love with the art of doing hair. I made more money, had more freedom, and most importantly—I was happy.
I learned a powerful lesson:
You don’t have to be overworked to be successful.
You don’t have to be unhappy to “make it.”
You can choose yourself—and thrive.

How I Built My Reputation as a Hairstylist
When I walked away from working as a commission stylist, I knew one thing for sure: if I was going to succeed on my own, I had to build a name for myself—and not just for doing hair, but for how I made people feel.
I started by focusing on the experience. I wanted every client to feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for. From personalized consultations to creating a comfortable, uplifting vibe in my space, I poured my energy into connection—not just transformation.
I stayed consistent on social media, showcasing my work, sharing my journey, and letting my personality shine through. I showed not just before-and-afters, but the stories behind the clients—the confidence they gained, the joy they felt.
Word-of-mouth grew fast. Happy clients became loyal clients, and loyal clients brought friends, family, and coworkers. I treated every person who sat in my chair like a VIP, whether it was their first time or their tenth.
I invested in continued education and never stopped learning—trends, color theory, technique. I wanted to be known not just as a hairstylist, but as an artist. Someone people could trust with their hair and their confidence.
That consistency, passion, and care is what built my reputation.
I didn’t chase popularity—I built community.
I didn’t try to be like everyone else—I stayed true to my style.
