We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful JASMINE GRIMES. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with JASMINE below.
JASMINE, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
I am glad that I started my business when I did. I can remember i was 18 and my mom & i were on our way to Florida and God placed the idea on my heart to start my own business! I found vendors, i made price lists, etc i was super excited and i went all the way with it! Your business will start small but eventually it will grow! Your business is just like YOUR BABY.
Stop waiting on the perfect moment to start your business! NOW is the perfect time.
You have to do and put in the work because you need a personal loan but can’t get one because your credit score.. you can’t just wait for your credit score to improve… you have to do the work to make your credit score improve. YOU HAVE TO TAKE ACTION. BE ABOUT ACTION! Let your fear fuel you. PUT YOUR PLAN INTO ACTION.
DO IT SCARED.
DO IT NERVOUS.
DO IT BROKE.
DO IT WITHOUT SUPPORT.
DO IT AND DO IT WELL!
There are a lot of things i had to learn from trial and error. I have lost money. Been scammed and more. The info i give will help you all who don’t know where to start but have an idea i can give you all the advice and business tips in the world but its up to you to take this knowledge and apply it to your business.
I believe in the saying THERE IS ENOUGH ROOM FOR EVERYONE TO WIN.
Do not get discouraged by how many people have the same idea as you.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a 23 year old, serial entrepreneur. Also a graduate from GSU with a bachelors degree in Accounting. The first generation in my family to graduate with a bachelors degree.
The owner of The Jasmakayla Collection, Sally’s Lavish Boutique, The Jasmakayla Enterprise, The Jasmakayla Tax Services, & Opulence Salon Suites.
I was born & raised in Columbus, Ga, but at the age of 18 I just knew there was more success than my small hometown.
That is also the time when I realized that building someone else’s family generational wealth just was not for me. I was working at macys part time making minimum wage while also attending Georgia state university.
I then started my first business, the Jasmakayla Collection, selling hair which is how i made my first $100k.
After mastering the hair business I got into the Airbnb business where I made $30k in my first month off of my 2 units and everyone was so amazed by my success that I started mentoring others on how to get started with Airbnb.
January of this month I set a goal that I want to become a millionaire by the end of this year, so I opened my newest 3 businesses which is credit repair, tax preparation, and my salon suites that will be opening in 2023.
One thing I want you all to take away from today is that, yes, we all want to make money with our businesses but please realize that entrepreneurship is more than just the money. It’s about the value that you’re leaving with every single person that you come into contact with.
Entrepreneurship also has its up & downs. Sometimes we have slow seasons and we are also humans. Back in April my high rise caught fire & flooded. I literally lost everything. But I did not let that stop me nor my businesses. I took me a break and then I got right back to it.
You all can be whatever you want to be. All you have to do is put in the work and the success will come. Also to the ones that don’t want to be entrepreneurs nothing is wrong with having a career. I know the climate we live in today social media has a big impact on all of us but just do everything at your own speed. Life is a marathon not a rush.
1. Change your environment. Move out of your city!
2. Join a business group or get your own office space.
3. Change your conversations. Your network is your net worth!
4. Build your biz credit & apply for grants
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Organic marketing such as email, text, flyers, and referral fees. You have to think if social media was to end today how would your business survive?
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Credibility and A1 customer service skills helped build my reputation within my market.
