We were lucky to catch up with Jasmine Frazier recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jasmine, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The original name of Shades of Diane came along when I began my journey for the love of houseplants in 2020. During that time there was a world-wide pandemic. People were ordered to stay inside and traveling was limited. This gave me the time to really enjoy and love the whole process of plants. There were a lot of benefits that came from taking care of house plants. It gave me the patience I needed, it fulfilled that urge to nurture something, and overall gave me a different outlook about plants and life itself. Since 2016 I started to realize that a lot of the everyday products that we use have ingredients that are not safe for our bodies and/or consumptions. I then transitioned all my products to natural products like: body soaps, dish soap, laundry detergent, deodorants, and cleaning products. Fast forward to 2022, I knew with all the covid mayhem that there had to be a natural way to help boost our immune systems. A friend came to me and told me about a certain product that helped them “get over covid”. I was intrigued and wanted to know more details. They told me it was oregano oil! I did my research and learned that oregano oil was like a “miracle oil”. It has a lot of benefits for the body, such as being an anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, may help relive allergy symptoms, may help with digestion, may help reduce cold and flu symptoms, etc. The very moment my friend was telling me about this product, I knew I wanted to curate this product myself and have it for those “just in case” situations. My husband suffered from allergies really bad every time the seasons would change. I wanted to no longer see him suffer. I had my husband take my homemade oregano oil every day, a couple drops under his tongue. When the seasons started to change, we noticed he didn’t have a big flareup like he usually does. This was such an amazing feeling to not see him in the worst conditions. I didn’t intend to start selling the oregano oil until my husband mentioned it. He told me instead of having all of this for us, you can provide this product for everyone else by selling it. long story short, I took his advice! From there I was making some pretty good sales, but at the same time also helping people. As I continued this journey I allowed God to direct me, I researched and learned about other different plants and herbs, and learned about different natural ingredient substitutes.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I began my business in 2022. I was exposed to a lot of natural remedies, herbs and plants. I always knew in order to live the healthiest life possible, that meant taking control of your body and feeding it the natural substances that it needed. I tell everyone that my husband is my reason for my business. he struggled with allergies his whole life, and I couldn’t watch him any longer with suffering. If it wasn’t for my husband, I’m not sure if there would be a “Shades of Diane” continuation. I take pride in the products that I curate. I want customers to get the full potential of my products. I curate my products with the most freshest organic ingredients used possible. I currently make oregano oil, elderberry syrup, tinctures, and ginger shots which are all vegan friendly products. My business is like my baby, I created this from scratch, I worked hard to create everything that comes with a business. I’m very proud of myself for coming up with this idea in my head, and actually having it play out! I want the world to be aware that there are other alternatives when it comes to their health. we can’t depend on others when it comes to our well-being, we have to take charge!

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I definitely believe that word of mouth helped build my reputation within this health market. I had a lot of family members who started supporting and they recommended me to other friends and family. I also started my vegan journey in 2022, and I was very active on social media. Connecting with other vegans in the community lead to introducing others to my business.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I truly believe in these days and times that social media is a must if you have a business. The reach that you can get through social media is like no other. being that I’m vegan, I’ve joined in so many community groups that made it easier to connect with those like-minded individuals. The advice that I would give is to constantly post your business or products, you never know when it may come across someone whose interested.
