We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jasmine Drane. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jasmine below.
Jasmine, appreciate you joining us today. Before we talk about all of your success, let’s start with a story of failure. Can you open up about a time when you’ve failed?
Because of the content I create on social media, people were always asking to taste my food. So, I thought it would be a great idea to give the public what they wanted and decided to sell plates. I was excited to finally share my cooking with others in a real way, but unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. The location I chose wasn’t ideal, and to make matters worse, we lost power on the day of the event. Despite the setback, I still managed to get some plates out, but many didn’t make it, and I had to issue refunds. It was one of the most stressful situations I’ve ever been in.
Although I haven’t sold plates again since then, I didn’t let that failure define me. It was definitely a traumatic experience at the time, but looking back, I see it as a valuable lesson. Now that I have more knowledge and experience, I know how to prepare better for the next time. That moment taught me the importance of planning for the unexpected and staying resilient, even when things don’t go as planned.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Jasmine, and I’m a content creator with a deep passion for cooking. My journey into the food industry started unexpectedly, I went to Specs Howard School of Media Arts after high school and worked on commercials for Chrysler & Ford and worked during press week for the Detroit Auto Show and many other small movie projects in the Metro Detroit Area. But over time, I discovered that my true passion was in the kitchen. I began sharing my cooking on TikTok, and as my audience grew, so did my opportunities. I’ve had the chance to collaborate with major brands like Cinnabon, Costco, and even Dolly Parton, which has been an incredible experience.
I specialize in creating engaging food content, from recipes to product reviews, while also building a strong connection with my audience. People love my cooking, and I aim to make food feel accessible, fun, and full of flavor. Right now, I’m working toward launching my own food truck in 2026 or early 2027, which will allow me to bring my food directly to the people who have supported me along the way.
What sets me apart is my authenticity. I don’t just post content for the sake of it..I genuinely love what I do, and my audience sees that. Whether it’s a simple meal or an elaborate dish, I put my heart into everything I create. I’ve also learned through trial and error, like when I tried selling plates for the first time and faced unexpected challenges. Even though it was stressful, it taught me resilience and the importance of preparation.
I’m most proud of how far I’ve come. I started with a simple love for cooking and turned it into something real, something that resonates with people. If there’s one thing I want my followers and potential customers to know, it’s that I’m just getting started. My goal is to continue growing, inspiring others, and eventually serving up amazing food from my own truck.
If you love good food, real experiences, and a creator who keeps it 100%, I’m your girl! 😊
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Absolutely. One of the biggest things I wish I knew earlier was how to properly price my work and negotiate with brands. When I first started creating content, I didn’t realize how much I should be charging or how to structure brand deals. Learning about influencer marketing rates, usage rights, and contract terms would have saved me from undervaluing myself in the beginning.
Another resource I wish I tapped into sooner was networking with other creators. There’s so much knowledge-sharing in creative communities, whether it’s through online groups, content creator meetups, or even just reaching out to people who have been in the game longer. I’ve learned that having a strong network can open doors and help navigate challenges more efficiently.
Lastly, I wish I had known more about business management tools early on. From tracking income and expenses to organizing collaborations, having systems in place makes everything run smoother. Now, I use things like budgeting apps, social media schedulers, and content planning tools to stay on top of everything..
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part is seeing how my food and content connect with people. Whether it’s someone trying one of my recipes and loving it or a follower telling me my videos make their day, that connection is what keeps me going. Cooking isn’t just about making food…it’s about creating experiences, memories, and sometimes even a little bit of comfort for people.
I also love the freedom that comes with being a creative. I get to express myself in a way that feels natural to me, and I’m building something on my own terms. Every milestone, whether it’s working with a big brand, hitting a new follower goal, or just making a dish that people go crazy about it feels like proof that I’m on the right path.
At the end of the day, knowing that my work brings people joy and that I’m creating a future doing what I love is the best feeling ever.
