We recently connected with Jasmine Cormier and have shared our conversation below.
Jasmine, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear stories from your time in school/training/etc.
I was fortunate to complete my life coaching certification through the Quantum Coaching Academy in October 2023. It’s interesting to look back over my path and see how I got to where I am now. I went to undergrad at Huston- Tillotson University and earned my bachelors in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. Even then, it was on my heart to help others and I was drawn to the idea of counseling or being a therapist. Fast forward to 2019 when I worked with my first life coach. We expanded the vision of my wellness brand from solely candle-focused to include the next steps of offering wellness and business coaching. It wasn’t until Fall 2022 that I decided it was the right time to move forward with coaching and going the certification route. TikTok has a trend right now of sharing one decision that altered the trajectory of your life. I think it’s beautiful to sit with how your life has unfolded into what it is now, and for some of us we haven’t even “arrived.” And that brings me to my first anecdote.
“Possibility, Ability, and Worthiness” As a coach, it’s my responsibility to see my client as the highest version of themself. I do not offer advice or mentor them. I get to honor and hold space for my client by holding them accountable to what they set to accomplish in our time together. We tell children to “dream big” and “you can do anything,” but we tell adults to get a job and live for the weekends. That’s where I work through possibility with my clients and helping them see and envision themselves truly as they wish to be. Ability comes down to taking action on what is possible and not accepting the NOs and limits others place on us. This is the mindset shift to not accept victimhood or be at the effect of others. Lastly, worthiness is tied to our hope of a particular thing happening for us. Simply because it has not happened does not mean it will not happen. We want to stay in hope, or high vibration, to what we set out to accomplish.
There is no failure, only feedback. Feedback from a situation is not the same as receiving a lesson. Feedback is an observation of an outcome objectively and removes the, oftentimes, heavy feelings that come with learning a lesson. It gives grace to see what you fancy and bring that to the table at future opportunities.

Jasmine, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started Soy Society Wellness back in 2018. Originally, it was called Soy Society Candle Club because the subscription boxes were just getting popular and I hadn’t seen any being offered for candles, yet. I decided to shift to Soy Society Wellness about a year in to include my passions and offerings of yoga, blogs, and esteem building exercises. My personal healing and wellness journey started while I was in college. I was a late bloomer and had so much to learn about life and knew it was my responsibility to set myself up for success in the long run. Around 2015, in my search for doing meaningful work, I went back to my childhood dream of wanting to open a dance studio. Back in college I was too afraid to switch my major or change schools to pursue dance or psychology. Mostly because of financial reasons but also just not knowing that I could actually go for what I wanted, even if that meant changing schools or cities or adding another year in university. I was committed to seeing my studio dreams happen and ultimately I signed up for yoga teacher training and did my first certification program in 2015. And again in 2016 for my 200 hour power vinyasa certification through Core Power Yoga. Although, most times, you don’t need a degree or certification for certain careers, I have found it best suits me to get a deeper understanding and training to be effective in the trade and be confident in my skillset. I’m stoked to be offering coaching through my Radiance Effect online course and one-on-one coaching.
Wellness is at the heart of everything I do. I don’t believe that we are meant to do life alone or live in a way where we constantly push down our feelings and emotions to be a workhorse. As we become more aware of our carbon footprint or the benefits of free-range poultry, we take steps to embrace that change, therefore it is also our responsibility to implement healing into our life. As a woman of color who specializes in “All Things Wellness” it brings me joy to support you on your journey. That may be supplying a 10 oz intention candle, a follow along yoga session on our Youtube channel, or working one on one to coach you into your radiant season.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Reading has been my safe space since I was in High school. One book that has impacted my philosophy was a random pick up from a once-loved book store entitled Loving What Is. The first time I read it I saw it as a way of taking my power back and not creating my own suffering. It challenges the way we listen to the stories we tell ourselves. Byron Katie shares 4 thought-provoking questions to ask ourselves regarding a story or scenario that is either playing on a loop in our mind or we just experienced. Question 4 is “How Would I Feel and Behave Without This Thought?” What we think comes from a feeling of a truth that we accepted in the past and is being called to our attention. Personally, I grew up feeling like I wasn’t good enough. When I notice that I am feeling or thinking a thought that weighs on me, I can ask myself that question and check in with myself. My response is typically an affirmation to release and rewire that thought. Now, after having completed my life coaching certification, I help my clients move that stored energy and replace it to catapult them into a friendlier headspace and ultimately closer to their purpose.
Other amazing reads are The Untethered Soul, Radical Acceptance, and Braving The Wilderness.
As a life coach, or in any industry where it’s important for you to stand out and be seen (including the candle industry), I found that it helped to have low priced items or offerings to reach people who may not be ready for a large or pricey commitment. My workbook, The Radiance Effect, will be out in November and will open up more opportunities for clients to work with me. Plus, it’s helped me nail down my messaging to create perspective shifts.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
What I have found to be the most effective strategy as a coach to grow my clientele has been being open, vulnerable, and authentic in spaces where I can share my knowledge and my testimony. Showing up as a coach has been different and forced me to level up in a new way compared to how I showed up as a candle brand. With a product, it was easy to hide behind aesthetically branded candle photos and scent descriptions online and attend pop up markets where customers have access to smell the collections. As a coach, I mostly utilize social media platforms to show my teaching style, who I am as a woman, and my values through videos, webinars, and reels. Most recently, I had an opportunity to attend a three day conference and network in-person with like-minded women in a safe container. Many of whom attended the conference because they are ready to move to their next level professionally. In short, using your voice with your truth is powerful whether in person or online.
