We recently connected with Jasmine Calix and have shared our conversation below.
Jasmine, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success, to me, is all about consistency and self-awareness. It’s about showing up—even when it’s hard—and staying true to who you are. It’s not just about hitting a goal; it’s about building habits, staying curious, and embracing trial and error. Success also requires unlearning a lot—especially letting go of perfectionism.
It’s about being willing to learn because everything is always evolving, from new strategies to changes in marketing. I have a degree in Neuroscience and Behavior, so I didn’t have a background in business or marketing. Everything I know now comes from research, mentors, and my willingness to keep learning and applying what I discover.
I realized that success looks different for me. It’s about creating things I love and sharing that passion in an authentic way. Take my Comfy Crew Sweater, for example—I didn’t overthink it. I allowed myself to enjoy the process, and it became one of my proudest pieces. That experience taught me that success isn’t about following a rigid path; it’s about finding what feels right for you and running with it.

Jasmine, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, I’m Jasmine! I’m a crochet artist, designer, and content creator who’s all about making life a little cozier and more creative. I started crocheting as a hobby—it was a way for me to relax and express myself—but it quickly grew into something much bigger. Over time, I realized I had a real passion for designing my own crochet pieces, from sweaters to matching sets, and sharing that process with others.
What sets my work apart is that I aim to bridge the gap between crochet and modern fashion. I take inspiration from my wardrobe, clothes I see online, and my imagination to create designs that feel wearable, stylish, and fun. My focus is on making crochet accessible to everyone through detailed tutorials and patterns that help others feel confident in creating something of their own.
I think one of the biggest problems I solve is helping others feel confident in their ability to create. A lot of people tell me they’ve always wanted to make their own clothing or learn crochet but felt intimidated. My patterns and designs are all about breaking things down so it feels accessible and fun—because crochet isn’t just a craft, it’s a confidence builder.
I’m most proud of how far I’ve come in building a community that’s supportive and inspired by creativity. Seeing people tag me in their versions of my designs or tell me that they’ve picked up crochet because of my work is so rewarding.
If there’s one thing I’d want people to know about my brand, it’s that everything I create is rooted in passion. I genuinely love what I do, and I think that comes through in my designs. Whether you’re here for crochet patterns, creative inspiration, or just a little cozy content, my work is all about bringing value and joy to the crochet community.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience on social media has been such an exciting journey, and honestly, it all started with me just sharing what I love. When I first began posting about crochet, I didn’t overthink it—I’d share my designs, progress photos, and little snippets of my creative process. Over time, I started to notice what resonated with people: authenticity. The posts that showed my personality, my wins and my struggles, were the ones that people connected with the most.
One big turning point was when I leaned into creating value for my audience. It wasn’t just about showing my finished pieces; it was about teaching others, sharing tips, and encouraging them to try crochet for themselves. Tutorials and patterns have been a huge part of that because they help others feel like they can create something beautiful too.
Consistency has been another huge factor. I wouldn’t say I’ve posted every single day, but I do try to show up regularly, whether it’s to share a design, post a behind-the-scenes look, or just connect with my audience in the comments or stories.
For anyone just starting to build their social media presence, my biggest piece of advice is to focus on being you. People can sense when you’re authentic, and that’s what they’ll connect with. Don’t feel like you have to have everything perfect—just start sharing what excites you. Also, remember to engage with your audience! Reply to comments, answer DMs, and show genuine interest in the people who support you.
Lastly, be patient and don’t compare your growth to others. It takes time to find your voice and your community, but as long as you stay consistent and keep sharing what you love, the right people will find you.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the moments that stands out to me was when I was working on a crochet design that I was really excited about. I had sketched it out, spent hours picking the perfect yarn, and started bringing it to life. But as I got further into the project, I realized it wasn’t turning out the way I envisioned. The fit was off, the texture didn’t feel right, and no matter how many tweaks I made, it just wasn’t working.
I’ll be honest—it was frustrating. I’d already put so much time and effort into it, and the thought of starting over felt overwhelming. But instead of giving up, I decided to frog (unravel) the entire piece and start again from scratch. I went back to my sketches, reworked the design, and gave myself permission to approach it with fresh eyes.
That experience taught me a lot about resilience. It reminded me that setbacks are part of the creative process and that sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward. When I finally finished the piece, it turned out even better than I’d imagined, and the response from my audience made all the effort worth it.
To me, resilience is about showing up, even when things feel hard or uncertain. It’s about trusting the process, learning from the challenges, and having the courage to keep going—even if it means starting over.
