We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jasmine Bryant a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents are my biggest support system. My parents did not have it easy growing up in NYC but no matter what they always made sure my siblings and I were taken care of. They have a room in their house that is literally a gallery filled with my art. When I was just starting out and was low on funds my parents took me to Michael’s and filled my trunk with blank canvases. They invest into any idea I have and are my #1 fans.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m an artist who specializes in visual art. I paint colorful art that depicts what I know – my culture, music, and film. I feel everyone deserves art so I merchandise my art by hand and offer a wide array of prices for everyone to be able to bring something home.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
A lot of my social media audience grew when I did my 100 day painting challenge. During the beginning of the pandemic, since I had a lot of free time at home, I started (& completed) a painting challenge where I did 100 paintings for 100 days and I sold them for $100 each. My following on Instagram and Twitter grew over 2k followers each. I sold 99 out of 100 paintings.
My advice to anyone wanting to grow their following is be consistent and use Twitter! Twitter will grow your following very quickly. All it takes is 1 person with a large following to like your tweet and their entire following will see it.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Buy from local artists! Target and Home Good paintings are nice but nothing is better than buying from a local artists.
