Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jasmine Brown. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jasmine , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I must say that I have taken many risks in my life and one that sticks out was my move from Georgia to Arizona in 2018. I was living in a beautifully designed apartment with my partner at the time. I had recently graduated from Graduate School, working in the field as a community based counselor. I was surrounded by supportive friends and family.
From the outside looking in and probably from the way I”m telling this story; life was great, no complaints. Except life wasn’t really that great for me. I wasn’t happy. External factors brought many moments of joy. However, internally, I was not there yet. Still processing some extreme losses I experienced the years prior, while living in a city that held a lot of memories and feelings. It was difficult to say the least.
The summer of 2018, it was time for us to renew our lease or do something different. For me, I didn’t know right away where I wanted to go, but I knew I had to get out of Georgia. A new environment was needed in order for me to grow.
After many conversations and intentional thought, I decided to go to Phoenix, Arizona. I was unsure where I was going to live, I didn’t have any job leads and my boyfriend couldn’t commit to the move. I risked my livelihood, relationships and lodging to bet on myself.
How did it turn out? Well lets just say, Internally, I am in a very peaceful and joyous space. I love my loft. My business is growing and I have received some very cool opportunities.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Jasmine Brown, in short, I am a mental health professional and sexual wellness advocate. I founded the company Alluring Interventions with the mission of enhancing the standard of sexual self care and healing.
So far that mission has been implemented through our annual You for You Retreat – an all-inclusive luxury experience for women to immerse all of their love and energy back into themselves. In addition to our Sensual-Fitness certification program (SenFit) – a professional training for wellness providers to expand their practice and be able to provide a more holistic approach to their clientele.
There are many aspects of wellness that contribute to the holistic approach of sexual wellness, as a company we pride ourselves in providing opportunities for many experts in the field to gain more personal connections within the community. As well as provide the community opportunities to learn more, sexcare more and heal.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
I would have to say being true to you and building good relationships. With potential clients/consumers as well as other professionals in the field. When you are your authentic self, you draw in the right people you can serve and collaborate with.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Advice I can provide for managing a team would be to appreciate each member for who they are and what they bring to the table. I believe everyone is an expert in something that contributes to the bigger picture, as a leader you should encourage and allow those talents to shine through. I also believe in promoting a well balanced life. Get to know your team’s dreams and personal goals, their hobbies, important people in their lives and be creative with providing opportunities for your team to incorporate those things and people into their lives. Have emotional intelligence and always show gratitude.
