We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jasmine Azor. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jasmine below.
Jasmine, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learned all my crafts myself, by just trying it, from Youtube University (lol) or books. Also, I’ve invested in the tools needed in order to create these crafts. I don’t believe I would try to speed it up. If I could I would just be more consistent in practicing the craft and trying things out of the box in order to be more innovative. I think my most essential skill would be drawing in a sketchbook because it all started from there. Knowing the basics of a craft allows you to explore that craft in many different variations and versions. The obstacles that stood in the way would be having to get a job to sustain my life outside of my artistry. It took away focus and attention that I wish I could have put more into developing my crafts and career. Also being a multifaceted emotional artist didn’t allow me to focus on one craft at a time. I continuously (and still do) jumped from craft to craft to craft in short amounts of time which pulled me in many different directions and didn’t allow me to develop expertise in the craft like I would have liked to.
Jasmine, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is knowing that somewhere out there I am resonating with someone, I am helping someone through something, I am showing someone that what they do what they feel and who they are is valid. I believe that without Artist this world would not be able to survive, We bringing to fruition love passion pain heartache grieving anger all the emotions.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience on social media by walking in my truth. I have always been very open about my emotions and my expression and I did get a lot of shit for it but I didn’t stop. I continue to be vulnerable I continue to lay it all on the line I continue to bear at all for love and expression and for the art. Because I felt that we were living in a society where no one was being truthful and honest and social media hit society and everyone was only showcasing the best versions of themselves but if you met them in person they were miserable I was hurting I was going through my first heart breaks in all of that and I just wanted to show the world that this is what real life is. And I was on my spiritual journey I was on the journey of finding out who I was as a person as a woman as a black woman as an artist as a daughter as a sister as all of that . And I wanted to be honest with everyone and myself about the journey.
