We recently connected with Jasmine Andrews and have shared our conversation below.
Jasmine , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Black Dynasty just came to me. When the thought of starting a business became something that I was serious about, I knew I wanted to help my people. I love being a black person. I love helping other black people and people of color, and I know one day I want to build an empire for my people. So the name Black Dynasty just rolled off the tongue.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
The name of my business is Black Dynasty Marketing LLC. I am a social media manager that specializes in helping small businesses run by minorities. I provide social media management services that assist in helping businesses and artists increase their social media presence all while helping them increase revenue for their businesses. I noticed that many small businesses would allow their social media to fall off or just didn’t have a social media presence at all. There are so many businesses and artists that have so much to offer and the world needs to see it. I just felt like some business owners underestimate the potential of social media and what it can do for them. I haven’t been in business too long, but I love all the people that I have helped by just creating a simple post for them or shouting them out after finding their work or services. I just love helping people. That’s what it all boils down to.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My business has taught me so much about myself. Some things I already knew, and others I discovered along the journey. Just recently I felt like giving up. Black Dynasty had been up and running for almost a year before I got my first paying customer. In hindsight I honestly feel like I wasn’t hungry enough. I just wanted things to come easy. like “Oh ok, I am open for business, people are going to come to me”. Yeah, no, it did not work like that. So when it didn’t I got discouraged. The moment I started putting in the work that’s when my first client came. I worked with her for a few months and loved the experience, but found that I still wasn’t hungry enough. I wanted to quit again and I almost did! I am glad I didn’t though. My experience within the first year has shown me that you won’t get the results you want if you don’t put the work in. Cliche to say, I know, but it’s real. Nothing is going to come to you easily, especially something like running a business. So now, year two is about me learning from my mistakes and to never allow myself to give up or even think about giving up just because things don’t go my way or as planned.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Although I don’t have a team just yet, I do know a thing about setting the tone for morale. I think it’s so important to allow your team to feel heard and cared for. So many people go to work everyday just feeling like a number or just another employee. I managed a team once at a large retailer before starting my business and I learned that if your team feels valued the morale will always stay high. Ask people how they are doing, have company events and mixers. Get involved with your team in the most professional way possible. When you do that your team will go above and beyond to do their job because they love what they do and they love who they work for/with.
