Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jasmine And Gitti Cronin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jasmine and Gitti , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, what do you think about family businesses? Would you want your children or other family members to one day join your business?
Working with family is amazing for many reasons. The support system you have throughout is strong, and you never have to miss out on time with your family, which is always important.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Growing up as a New Mexico native and having moved to Germany with my husband, there were many things I had missed from my home. The food, the sun, the culture, but mainly my family. I moved back to spend more time with my family. I had just left an extremely toxic workplace and was feeling unsure what to do next. For Christmas my grandma bought me some clay. I was excited to try it out and thought I discovered a new hobby. 2 months later my grandma and I started Crows Peak and The Bean. Our many talents combined. To be able to work at home and have more time for family while also having their support is the greatest job I’ve ever had. The greatest job I could ever imagine having. It has its challenges but our family is there to help us through them. We are also lucky to have family and many vendor friends who have businesses of their own and help us grow, and to not forget to have fun and go our own pace. Our main mediums are painting with acrylic paint on wood and polymer clay, and crafting with polymer clay. Everything is handmade/handpainted with care. We test the quality of our products to be able to provide our customers with the best they can get. Suncatchers, earrings, wooden wall decor, tiny mushroom bubbles and more. We make what we love and hope you’ll love it too.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
At the very beginning of starting out, I was very nervous and stressed out because of money running low. My family was there to help push me through, even at times when I wanted to quit. They helped me realize the hardships of the first year in any business, and the truth of never giving up. As the year went on I started seeing the growth we were experiencing and the strength that came as well.
Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
With hand-crafting all of our inventory, we had to learn a lot along the way about what products to use and not to use. There were times where the paints would have bad reactions to the clay. Or the first clay I started using used to be very fragile. After some heartbreaking broken earrings, we found the right products to make sure we have the best quality.
