We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jasmine Alexander . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jasmine below.
Hi Jasmine , thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
As an actor and filmmaker, I’ve had the privilege of being involved in a number of meaningful projects that have left a lasting impact on both myself and audiences. From thought-provoking characters to stories that resonate deeply, each project has held its own significance. However, some of the most meaningful endeavors have been the projects I’ve written and directed. Being able to bring my own creative visions to life has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Whether it’s through the portrayal of complex characters on screen or the crafting of narratives from behind the lens, I’ve found that the most meaningful projects are those that not only entertain but also provoke deeper thought and emotion. These are the projects that leave a lasting impression and drive home the true power of storytelling in both film and art.

Jasmine , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Jasmine Alexander. I was born in Flint, MI. I lived in Texas my adult life. Been in ATLANTA, Ga for almost 3 years now. Acting has been my passion since I was very young. I have been acting since 2015. I have been in many short films, feature films, and commercials. Some of my work has appeared on Amazon Prime, HGTV, Tubi, and other major platforms. I have also worked with Farrah Gray on different projects before the pandemic started.
I started my filmmaking journey during the pandemic. As I sat around waiting for productions to open up again I decided to create my own opportunities.
Since that journey started I created many short films. A few of which I submitted to film festivals and they have won Best Short Film, Best Women Filmmaker, Best Actress, and many others. I have been featured in Oz magazine for my short film “Body Image” starring yours truly and Jayla Re’shon’s Body Image has a great impact because it touches on many people dealing with insecurities of social media.
Right now finished a short film that will touch on bullying and revenge. Starring Shawn Sim, Curtis Goode, Melissa Ottaviano, and Destinee Sanders. Directed and produced by yours truly and Director of Photography Mike Whitehead. Project coordinator Jayla Re’shon. I feel my filmmaking journey makes me the most proud because I step out of faith and it’s been working in my favor ever since.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
In my view, there are several key ways that society can best support artists, creatives, and a thriving creative ecosystem. Society can support artists and creatives by fostering education and awareness about the arts from a young age. This includes integrating arts and creative programs into school curriculums, providing resources for arts education, and promoting awareness about the value of creativity and artistic expression.
Also Providing affordable and accessible spaces for artists to create, perform, and exhibit their work is crucial. Building and maintaining art centers, studios, theaters, and galleries can offer creatives the environments they need to thrive and contribute to a vibrant cultural scene.
Lastly, Society can support artists and creatives by actively engaging with and participating in the arts. This includes attending performances, visiting galleries, purchasing artwork, and supporting local cultural events. By doing so, individuals can directly contribute to the sustainability of the arts community
By prioritizing these areas, society can create an environment that not only supports artists and creatives but also values and enriches the cultural fabric of communities.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is the ability to evoke emotions, provoke thoughts, and inspire change through the work that is created. Whether it’s through a captivating performance, a thought-provoking film, a compelling piece of music, or a visually striking piece of art, the opportunity to connect with audiences on a deep and meaningful level is incredibly fulfilling. As an artist or creative, the ability to communicate universal truths, shed light on important issues, and offer new perspectives provides a sense of purpose and impact that goes beyond the individual. The knowledge that one’s work has the power to resonate with others, elicit genuine emotions, and perhaps even influence society is immensely gratifying. Additionally, the freedom to express oneself authentically and contribute to the cultural tapestry of the world is a deeply rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative.
