Jasmine, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?

When it comes to being a makeup Artist or any job where you’re offering services to others. The key to being successful is providing a comfortable friendly environment. It is important when you are serving clients that you make sure your customer service is top tier. I also believe that another key to being successful is always go with your gut when it comes to your business. With social media we can get caught up on how others are handling their business, and how their business is growing and we get distracted with trying to do things like others rather than doing what works for your own business. Which can make a business owner lose track of what their business needs specifically.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Jasmine I go by MJ. I am a makeup artist I have been doing makeup for about 6 years. I offer services from bridal makeup, photoshoots, special occasions etc. What I am most proud of when it comes to my business is I feel like I’ve finally found my place in the beauty industry and instead of giving up when things got hard I stayed strong and kept pushing and kept my faith in God. Now everything is coming together in the timing it was supposed to.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

What I had to unlearn is my process is it’s own and that I shouldn’t focus on how I should be further than I am in my career.The speed and the progress is not based on anything else except for timing and the dedication I put into my business.

How did you build your audience on social media?

With social media algorithm constantly changing how I’ve gained and is still currently gaining my audience started off with hashtags making sure I’m tagging popular things others view, and also the new popular route are Instagram reels. I make sure I am posting at least twice a day.
