Hi Jasmin, thanks for joining us today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?

I am happy to be a business owner. It does have its ups and downs as any business but I wouldn’t change it for anything. I am a mother so it works great with me being able to control my schedule as well. The last time I felt like I should’ve gone back to a 9-5 was when the pandemic hit. I didn’t know what it would mean for my business at the time.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?

I am better known as Jay of Laidbyjay,LLC. I specialize in extension and natural styling services such as ponytails bobs and lace. I also care about the natural hair and aiming to promote growth and strength within the hair. I have a growth oil I make that has helped a lot of people gain confidence back within their hair. I am someone who responds in decent timing, very organized, on time, provides washing services and keeps it real. I am most proud of being able to have people trust me into making them feel beautiful. I just want people to know that when they come across me or book with me, it is an experience.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

I believe that if you treat everyone the same and be your authentic self, it will pay off in the long run. Don’t look at someone else and copy, don’t try to go with someone else idea and think it’s going to help you. Everyone journey is different. I don’t lie to my clients and I don’t just do anything on them because they have money to give me.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

The best source of new clients has always been Instagram.
