We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jasmin Dice a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jasmin , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
My parents are great leaders and great people. Through the way they carried themselves and modeled hard work, it was embedded in me from the very beginning. Both of my parents are retired military so I seen first hand the sacrifices they had to make in order for our families to succeed. I also learned that in most cases, sacrifice is a prerequisite to success.. My mom always tells me to “do the right thing” and that has been the foundation of my integrity and how I move through the world. My dad tells me to “do what you have to do so you can do what you want to do”. This taught me discipline; to handle business now so I can enjoy the fruits of my labor later. I carry these things into everything I do from personal life to my entrepreneurial journey. My parents make me proud and I’m proud to be their daughter. My biggest goal in life is to make them proud too.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Jasmin Dice. I’m what they call a “military brat”, originally from Kentucky and currently residing in Dallas, Texas. I’m a graduate of Stephen F Austin State University. I’ve always been a creative, fun loving person and fragrance lover. I began making candles in 2018 as hobby during my last semester of college. After graduation, I began to dive a little more into and learning to different elements of candle making. Within a few a months, I began selling candles to college friends for a few extra bucks. Crazy enough, one night I had a dream and the word “Redolence” came to me so loud that it woke me up from my sleep. I looked up the word because I’d never heard of it before and that’s when Redolence Essentials was born. After being under the name Redolence Essentials for a few years, business was good but to me, it lacked the depth I really needed to remain passionate about my craft. After the passing of my great-grandmother Arvana (2019) and my grandmother Kay (2021), I decided it was time for a rebrand to honor my family’s legacy. Thus, Arvana Kay Home Fragrances was born.
Here at Arvana Kay, we hand pour small batches of soy-wax candles and create reed diffusers, wax melts and incense that are designed to elevate any space. We coin the term “ground luxury” – luxury that feels real, soulful, and approachable. Our fragrances are thoughtfully composed and our ingredients are all-natural. This is key to our mission to create a non-toxic home environment and improve indoor air quality that mass-produced products often diminish. Arvana Kay Home Fragrances fills the gap between generic, mass produced products and pretentious luxury.
We are proud to give back to our community through sponsorships and giveaways. As a part of our legacy, it’s important that we pour back into the community that has poured into us over the years. Arvana Kay was founded on family values and will continue to grow with intention, integrity, and in good faith.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Markets have been our best source of new customers. We believe that interacting with customers and allowing them to see our most authentic selves builds trust. Also, being that we have products that require the sense of smell, having in person markets allows customers to have an idea of what they’re purchasing. It’s a lot harder to sell candles and fragrances online as a growing business.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
The journey of entrepreneurship requires resilience within itself. It can get pretty ugly at times. As a small business owner, I essentially wear all of the hats and it’s not easy. As the business grows, I’m being pulled in a lot more directions but I’m happy to be overwhelmed by things I once prayed for. The growth and having gratitude for how far we’ve come has helped me to remain resilient and consistent with the business. I see that what I’m doing is working and it’s only a matter of time before everything I could ever hope for is at my front door. There are long nights and early mornings, a lot running around, and a bunch of boxes on the to-do list. For as many slow days as I’ve had, I could’ve given up a years ago but the fire inside of me, the excitement and peace I have when creating, and showing up everyday despite the bad days is what keeps me going.
