We were lucky to catch up with Jasma Goforth recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jasma, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Our mission is to make sure that all families across the world could enjoy matching family photos, parties, or events. Matching your spouse, kids pets, or dolls we strive to become a one stop shop. We want more families to come together and spend their days getting compliments due to their matching outfits. Take matching family photos for holidays or any event that you could look back on. We want to bring families closer together.

Jasma, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We are black-owned Boutique targeting loving families that enjoy each other’s company. We like to cater to children mostly. They are so full of life we want them to endure the fashion side of things. Children loves to match their pets and baby dolls, we have that here. We spend our day and time selecting new styles throughout the seasons as they change. Families, especially mothers have a hard time finding outfits for themselves to match their children. They normally have to go store to store to piece everything back together, Here at Layla B’s Closet we have all the sizes and styles you will need in one place. I am most proud when we see our clients in our inventory. It let us know we have a sense in style. We work hard daily to fulfill your needs. We are on ALL social media platforms and don’t forget to visit our website www.laylabscloset.com.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Funding was the hardest part of business. You don’t know where to start or who to ask when going into business. I first started my own research. I asked myself questions like: How do other businesses fund their business? What are the requirements for most loans? What all does my business need to succeed in the future? What about grants for my type of business? We then research them online. So many things run through our minds, but do we do any real research? Spend a week just looking into different funding possibilities. I know that CREDIT plays the biggest part in getting the funding we need. Having a money management system set up! You will need to make sure you see all incoming and outgoing revenue. It will help you see what type of budget you could afford when it comes to paying back your loans. Getting in contact with a credit repair specialist. Having a business bank account (which also have its own requirements.)
How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
I sell absolutely everything from my website. I host and attend pop up shop events and business seminars. I direct my traffic to my website by Google, Social Media Platforms, Offer Up, and Etsy. My website has been so beneficial because it reaches states I have never been to before. It is nationwide and I could conversate with anyone around the world at anytime before they place an order. It is so convenient for me. I take my laptop everywhere I go. I could be on a plane and updating all my inventory while I fly. If someone places an order, I could fulfill that order from my laptop or even my phone. When using a macbook air by Apple you have many more perks. Any app you have on your laptop is accessible to your phone. So, I could make changes, money manage, check balances, chat, place, fulfill orders all on my phone.
