We were lucky to catch up with Jasleni Brito recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jasleni thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
I once had a mentor/sales coach who told me that “if you don’t want to quit your business and become a Walmart greeter at least once a day, then you’re doing something wrong”.
While I don’t 100% agree, her words made me laugh because as an entrepreneur I totally understand feeling completely frustrated with your business even when you LOVE it. Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. It requires self-discipline, courage, curiosity, taking risks, experimenting, balance, confidence, humility, and a constant upleveling.
I do sometimes fantasize about the ease and sort of auto-pilot nature of having a regular job, clocking in, performing the tasks, and clocking out, all while leaving my work at work, and not taking it home with me. I’ve even gone as far as to browse for what job openings are available a couple of times. But then I instantly remember how much FREEDOM being an entrepreneur has given me.
Do I sometimes wish I wasn’t the boss and someone else could make the decisions? Sure. But also love being my own boss, not having to request time off if I suddenly decide I want to pack my bags and book a flight (which I often do).
The truth is, that while I do have to wear many hats, make all the decisions, and maintain the health and vitality of my business (which sometimes feels like a lot), it also feels deeply in alignment. As a brand strategist, I get to play with shapes and colors! And as a coach, I get to witness beautiful and brilliant women shift their energy and transform into more vibrant, creative, and successful individuals.
Like anyone else, I sometimes get hung on the little things, but I can say with absolute certainty that becoming an entrepreneur has been the best decision I’ve ever made.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

Together we’ll develop your branding, website design, offerings, systems, business operations and more. My work is all about big time transformation so that you can do the work your soul is calling you to do.
After years of working in graphic design, I realized that beautiful art is not enough. Designing the life and business of your dreams requires looking inward at what’s truly important to you, and BEING (not just doing) more of that!
As a kid, drawing and painting to my heart’s content, I never imagined I would one day be using my talents to help other entrepreneurs uplevel both personally and professionally, and yet, now I can’t imagine doing anything other than exactly this.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Just 3 years ago when my grandmother passed away, I quickly rushed to Dominican Republic so that I could attend her funeral and be there for my family. While at my grandmother’s house, rosary in hand, deep in prayer as it is customary to do on the days leading to a funeral, I found myself plotting how I would get to the nearest internet center so that I could follow up with my clients and continue working in between the prayer ceremonies. So here I was, surrounded my grieving relatives, reciting the words to the prayers, but completely disconnected from my environment, when I suddenly heard my grandmother’s voice telling me to pay attention! I know how it sounds when I say that I heard her voice from beyond this plane of existence but I did. And in that moment I realized I was so consumed by my business that I wasn’t even able to grieve properly!
So I unplugged (truly), and when I got back to the states after my grandmother’s funeral, I called each and every single one of my clients and terminated all of my contracts. I realized that the way I was working, and the type of work I was doing was enabling me to stay small and BUSY. So I made a drastic change and essentially broke up with everyone so that I could recenter, reevaluate what’s important to me and take my business in a different direction.
I got a coach who could help me through my grandmother’s passing and mental clutter, and the outcome was more than I could have ever imagined. By pivoting in this big way, and clearing my plate, I made space for the RIGHT type of clients and nearly doubled my income!
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Honestly, I wish I had someone like me to guide me early on in my business; a coach and a program like The Passion Puzzle to help me sift through the long lists of things to do, and actually help me focus on what mattered in those early stages of my business. I wish I would have started using the right type of software early to automate and streamline things to make it easier for myself. And lastly I wish I would have hired support and created a team earlier on too.
At the beginning, it is natural to think that we can’t afford to hire support, but knowing what I know now, I see you can’t afford Not to.
Having the right type of support has saved me so much time and heart ache.
