We recently connected with Jasen Smith and have shared our conversation below.
Jasen, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear your thoughts about family businesses.
Champagne Championz llc is a small family owned & operated business, With out the sacrifices of my immediate family none of it is possible. My wife and I see the day to day activities of the business as well as juggling the household which is not an easy task.Weekends are extremely busy with sports, pop ups and other business situation that come up. Family and business can often put a tole on the business and personal relationship but it is paramount to have communication. the reach of family in our business goes far past our immediate family as we have a great support team at champagne championz that when needed all hands on deck to help. I am truly blessed to have such a great team.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
First let me say thank you for the opportunity and thank you to the reader for taking the time out their day much appreciated. As for me I am Jasen Smith curator & owner of Champagne Champagnez Llc. Champagne Championz is a clothing line that main mission is for everyone to feel like a champion to feel that moment to win the championship and toast to their accomplishment. Rather that be a raise at work , new relationship or pass a test if you look the part play the part and have the winning attitude we want to be the garment you put on in those moments, we want you to have that feeling when you put on the brand it truly is a lifestyle. we set ourself apart with first high quality cut & sew, the customer is top priority so providing them with a lasting garment is the goal. Second our design we design with the idea that fads fade away but style last forever,
Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
For most designers in the game this is the hardest hurdle when deciding to scale your business. Ive had to endure the bumps and bruises when first starting. My advice is know your target market know what they care about is it quality, the cut and fit or is it quick logo driven, Learn what works best for the business budget once you do this the internet is a great tool. Learn as mush about the design business, fabric, tools weight, finishing, these are just as important as the design.Once you are ready finding a manufacturer for your specific need can be a click away. I use out the country Manufacturing based on my needs I’ve found its best to always have more than 1 and always be as clear and direct on design. The best advice I would have is to pay for a sample before you start your bulk order this can save your business money.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Pop ups Pop ups Pop ups. Be present be visual get out and see the audience, social media a great tool but face to face can change the way a customer views the brand. If covid had anything good come out of it it would be that everyone was ready at some point to go outside and this with the pop up vendor became the movement. Look on social media find the next best event in your area fill out the vendor form, it will give the business exposure while allowing you to network with peers.
