Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jarvis Blake. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jarvis, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
My first dollar earned as a creative was when I sold my first book as a ghostwriter. I been writing for a while and finally started looking for projects with people to submit their work when they couldn’t. Oftentimes people have stories they want to publish but rarely have the time. So I offered to write their book for $1 per page. It wasn’t a good idea at first because the book ended up being a best seller and I only made $244 dollars off of months of time. I’d say it was a blessing and a curse.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got started in writing with just myself. I would submit to “wattpad” and “Tumblr” and would always get people who wanted to either have their own stories written by me or me to produce my own content entirely.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The thing that is driving me to success is quite literally the future of wanting to give back and ensure that what I give back to the community is sustainable and appreciated.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a writer is being about to see your work made public in its own individual spectrums.
