We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jarrod Glasby a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jarrod, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
The motivation really came from necessity. I had started working on my first original rock project, Feel the Void, with a great audio engineer, John Ellis. He was already doing great work and I was just getting my feet wet with writing, recording & mixing. The real motivation came from wanting to make creative/mix decisions about the music we were working on, but John was often unavailable to help me make these changes due to his busy gig schedule. So for the next 6 years and up until present, I have amerced my self head-first into learning recording, producing, & mixing.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Jarrod Glasby. I am a professional producer/engineer/mixer. My 20 years of experience started with making the majority of my income from gigging about 250 dates a year for over 8 years in the local variety band scene. Becoming a versatile guitarist in all styles of popular music came from learning A LOT of hit songs. This one aspect alone has greatly helped me with music production and writing. When I’m not gigging live, I offer full music production services. This includes the entire production from start to finish. Whether that means exploding it into a full blown rock production with BIG drums, THUNDERING bass, ROARING electric guitars, & IN YO FACE vocals…, or anything in between! If you are an artist who has already recorded their material elsewhere and are in need of mixing services, I gladly do that as well! Go to my website www.jarrodglasbymusic.com to check out some of the projects.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When Covid hit, all of my live gigs literally disappeared in a day. I remember being in denial for about a month. Although I was pretty freaked out, I had been wanting to jump into staying home more in order to have time for more remote recording and mixing. I ended up getting my first client as soon as I put it out there that I was available to do this kind of work in my local music scene. I’ve been getting better and busier ever since. I just want to keep the ball rolling and help as many artists as I can get their music out there. And not only that, have the music sound GREAT!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The best part about getting to do what I do is when the client tells me that what they are hearing supersedes the vision they had in their mind of how the song should sound and feel! Seeing people get emotional over something like that is really special and I can definitely relate.

I knew you were going to continue what you have loved since a kid. Playing music was a part of who you already were at 14. I am also extremely proud when someone like you takes my advice seriously at such a young age. (So many kids don’t know what they want). You have never taken your eyes off what you want.❤️ Proud to know you Jarrod 😉❤️😁
