We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful JARREN-MYLES GAO-AY. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with JARREN-MYLES below.
JARREN-MYLES, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
As a baby, I grew up with a microphone in my hand. I would sing along to the karaoke even though I could not talk yet but my mom and sister who raised me would always tell me stories and show me videos of me baby talking to the rhythm of the music and dancing around like I was performing on stage. When I entered high school, I was first worried that I would be labeled lame for choosing choir as my elective but I overcame that and that is where I started my band Apollo 21. I also took singing lessons to hone my craft and learned how to play the guitar, the drums and the piano. With Apollo 21, we would perform during lunch and our choir concerts would also include a number or two from my band. And the feeling I got on stage, whether it be with my band or by myself just felt incredible like I could do anything. That is when I knew, music is where I belong.

JARREN-MYLES, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a high school student and I am part of our school choir. Within my choir classmates, I made friends that later became my bandmates. As well as other friends who helped me make my own music, get on spotify and shoot music videos. I have performed at debuts for my classmates and have several followers on my socials. I am here hoping that I can get my talent and music out into the public more and maybe some day get discovered.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative would be the feeling I get when I am on stage performing. I love knowing the fact that I am making people happy and that they are enjoying my talents.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
By putting myself out there, I was able to build my social media audience. Of course, with the help of many people, this journey would not have been possible. I was blessed to have met so many influential people in my life that has helped me get on Spotify where I have released my very first song that I wrote. I was blessed to have met people especially someone I looked up to, Mr. Orion Song who I did a song with. Our collaboration also brought me in the eyes of his audience and same for him.
