We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jarrell Allen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jarrell below.
Jarrell, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My mission is to give back to my community in every way possible through my lens. I started my business almost 3 years ago (February 2020) not knowing two months later I would loose a piece of my heart (my mom) I held on to her words “ son I’m proud of you” is what kept my heart beating for this new adventure I started to realized that I enjoyed creating experiences and moments that can last a life time (hints the name A Moment Created Photography). I started to enjoy the thought that people would be able to look back at pictures/videos and relive those moments through my lens. I enjoy being able to give back. For an example every year I try to give away free high school senior photoshoots to a couple high school students . I remember my senior year in high school my parents weren’t able to afford my senior pictures. I remember taken them and when they sent the proofs in the mail I knew that was all it was going to be. Just the proofs. So instead of allowing some of these painful moments to over take me I decided to take what’s in my hands and heart to create moments for others that would last a lifetime.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello, I am Jarrell Allen, I was born January 1 to the late Alicia Allen, and living father Darrell Allen in Miami Florida. Growing up, I was very active and not afraid to try new things lets just say I was fearless. It wasn’t until I Married my wife and my queen Jaleesa in 2014 that I picked up my first Camera a couple years later, and took that fearlessness to another level and start my journey as photographer and videographer. Thats when I found my passion for photography and videography. My business offer photographer and video for events weddings portrait and even funeral services. Our main goal is to capture special moments that can be relived over and over. From laughter, smiles to happy tears. We are here to make those moments last and have repeat customers even through word of mouth.
I have face many challenges during these 2 almost 3 years. At times I wanted to give up. I take my craft serious and don’t like having unsatisfied clients. I started to personalize each client experience and it started to affect me. It wasn’t till I was able to speak to other photos that I knew it was all apart of the growth which gave me a new passion in the business to make sure each client walks away completely satisfied even if i have to be up all night working.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I started with social back in college in 2009, so from then to 2020 I build a pretty good following. So once I started my business I already had the followers. When I first advertised my business it wasn’t taken serious. Many people would say “oh here come another photographer” or “are you going to take this serious” as if I didn’t take things seriously. Once my mom passed I used her memory to push my
Business through social media even the more. I started doing raffles. I used my wife a lot as my model and started showing my improvements through her.
My advice would be find something that motivates you and use that too push you to want and do better.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Consistency I started with my feet on the ground and I never stopped. If I messed up in the beginning I didn’t allow that to stop (which is almost did), but I regroup and allows myself to stay consistent. It wasn’t easy but 2 years later and we are still
