We were lucky to catch up with Jarratt Damn recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jarratt, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
10 years of doing this and I am still learning…Lol
But answer the question, I kinda just got thrown in the deep end. One of the first podcast I was on, I was “drafted” to be the technical producer and content creator. I was like…okay, I guess I am doing this.
So I went to “YouTube University” and watched as much content as possible to help me. Worked at it everyday to get better. But if I am being honest, I could have learned more if I let go of my pride and asked people. Especially people I knew in the industry. If you don’t ask for help, how can you get better?

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am the host of It’s About DAMN Time podcast, a podcast that is about self discovery and personal development. It addresses real life problems ( a lot of them are mine) and creates a community showing people that they are not alone.
As of very recently, I have launched D.A.M.N Solutions. D.A.M.N Solutions is a podcast agency that provides podcast consulting services, production services, and social media marketing for new podcasters and storytellers. I love giving people one on one attention that helps them grow as content creators.
Podcasts have become my life. I can’t go an hour without looping in possible episode topics, talking download numbers, content, industry trends, ore even the last podcast I listened to. My passion is unmatched and now I want to share it with others who have that same passion but don’t know how to get started.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Oh that’s easy!
It’s the people you positively affect. Nothing makes me feel more fulfilled than someone telling me that they listen to an episode and they could relate to it. I’ve gotten messages about how my episodes kept people from feeling alone or gave them a reason to keep pushing or kept them from doing something they would have regretted and family would have mourned.
To have that kind of impact…NOTHING BEATS IT!!!!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I think the story is the story I am currently going through. Last month my position at my day job was eliminated and I was left jobless. It completely changed my entire world.
I wanted to cry…and I did. But I have been pushing through. I am of course applying for jobs trying to figure out life but it hasn’t stopped me from podcasting. Every week an episode is coming out. Every week I am having discovery calls and meeting with new potential clients. Every week the creators I am working with gets my absolute best.
Are there emotional setbacks? Hell Yeah…wait, can I say hell…heck yeah!
But I can’t quit. I can’t give up. I can’t just roll over and die. I have to keep fighting!!!
