Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jarleel “JD” Earby. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jarleel “JD”, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
It’s Earby Studios. Hands down! It’s been the biggest, most rewarding and challenging project I’ve ever worked on. Since college, people have always been telling me that my artwork has been good enough to be put in galleries and exhibits. Yet at the time, I didn’t know anything about the art world but that didn’t stop me from trying.
I had created my own art event called “Sensational Love,” with live performances, group discussions, refreshments and, of course, my art. It was an amazing and momentous occasion for me. This event sparked the birth of Earby Studios and my love for expressing my creativity.
Pursuing my dreams of sharing my imagination and creative visions with the world through my events has been an on-going challenge, to say the least. Yet, it’s one I’ll continue to achieve within every event.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Art was always in my sights, since I was a kid. Watching cartoons always inspired me to draw and push myself creativity. I told myself then that somehow, some way I’ll work in the arts industry and make a name for myself. Never did I thought that I’ll push myself into being an entrepreneur. Throughout the years of me being an artist, I’ve always aim to amaze people with my talents. To see the shocked looks on their faces, lite up mine as well. It didn’t take before I wanted to expand on those emotions and do more with my talents. Therefore, I began to provide an unforgettable experience with my work through Earby Studios’ events.
To create something so beautiful, so different, so rare in this lifetime, that it brings joy to others is something I see nothing short of a blessing. Which is what I feel like separates me form others is my creative vision.
I’m proud of the growth, the strength, and the consistency I have for myself to make it this far in life. For I’ve come a long way from the boy with a dream to a man with a plan. Even though most of my plans don’t seem to work out the way I envisioned it, still doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good idea. I just hope that one day I get to make the young version of me proud, by showing the world my talents and efforts.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Listening to motivational speeches shifted my mindset into one that’s ideal for an entrepreneur. Specifically, speeches by Barack and Michelle Obama, Denzel Washington, and Will Smith are the ones that really pushed me to become who I am today. I learned from them that, yes, the big picture of anything is important, but the details matter just as much. By developing attention to detail, I became more effective in my work. My productivity levels are at an all-time high. I even make less mistakes now than I used to, simply because I pay attention and take my time with everything I do.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being both an artist and creative is that I can make or explain a visual of literally anything that pops up in my mind. I have the skillset to draw or paint anything. I’ve seen an endless amount of movies and tv series that I can refer to as well. So, no concept is ever difficult for me to explain, but I definitely can show you better than I can tell you! In conclusion, this is important because I know a lot of people have a rough time communicating ideas effectively.
