We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jaremy Turner a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jaremy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Inebriation Station name choice did not take long at all to synthesize. Prior to forming the company, I was the unofficial bartender amongst my friends. No matter what side of town I stayed on, my house would always become the pre-game stop as I would generally keep my bar in stock with the essential liquors, liqueurs, and mixers. I may or may not have had a dedicated budget for liquor, but it was something about being the first or last stop my friends and their affiliates would come to at some point of the night. I quickly related this to a stop along the train route for inebriation. After a few more minutes of brainstorming, the words inebriation and station made it to the final round and decided to combine them into “Inebriation Station”.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a nerd of all trades with technology being the first love of my life. After being laid off from my position with AT&T in January 2020, I was convinced that I would find a new tech job in a short time. Just like for many of us, however, the global pandemic disrupted the world in ways I don’t think most people were prepared for. In hindsight it awarded the opportunity for individuals to pivot and gain new skillsets. Prior to the pandemic for 3+ years, I would be the unofficial bartender amongst my friends, always having a stocked mini bar in my apartment for social gatherings while teaching myself the basics. Fast forwarding to the quarantine months when the world was at a standstill, I took it upon myself to take it a step further by completing an online mixology class and getting my TABC certification. Though both of those were a big deal to me, I think the icing on the cake was when I transformed one of the areas in my home into a bar from scratch! It was exactly what I needed to not host the ultimate kickbacks, but it allowed me to have a dedicated area to really work on my bartending skillset. It was during that moment when I was able to come up with the name, Inebriation Station for the company providing an oasis for those libation lovers, aka “The Lavish Lushes”. The best part of it was I was going to make it mobile allowing the experience to be brought to the customers.
Have you ever had to pivot?
As I do with anything I set my mind to, I determine what the “uncommon competency.” Simply put, figuring out what skillset(s) sets us apart from the competition. Knowing that life would eventually find a new normal, it was best to start planning ahead as people were becoming anxious to be social and frolic amongst other people again. This included accommodating both physical and virtual audiences while getting our name out there. We have done everything from hosting virtual game nights, to interactive in person cocktail competitions.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Inebriation Station (IBStation) quickly went from a concept, to making a few drinks for a few friends, to providing service to both private and corporate parties.
There are a few things about entrepreneurship. For starters, not everyone is built for this lifestyle and two everyone’s introduction into the lifestyle is different. What works for one person, may not work for another person looking to be their own boss as there are many variables come into play.
One of the milestones for the business is when I took a leap of faith several months back and quit my full-time tech position. This single decision of course meant that I was cutting that security net beneath me, that kept me from falling into an infinite abyss. The thought of not having a biweekly or monthly deposit is paralyzing! I had a little saved, but certainly nothing to brag about. Here is what I did know though, the more Inebriation Station grew the more of a distraction my 9/5 job felt. We often times miss out on opportunities when we refuse to invest in ourselves. The second milestone was forming a local collaboration with another minority-owned brand here in Dallas, Guiltless Brunch, as we became their primary bartending service for all of their Dallas events. This elevated the IBStation brand as we gained more exposure and experience with providing a customized mobile bartending experience. Our most recent, perhaps most significant milestone is hiring my first two bartenders for the company. The ideology that I adopted from one of the owners of the Guiltless Brunch is that when you own it you don’t work it. For a while I struggled with applying that concept to the business. In my mind I was convinced that I could handle it all myself. When we take on that mentality, however, we are potentially blocking others from their blessing. So I stood out of my own way and found two amazing bartenders willing to learn the craft behind bartending and mixology. This immediately placed me in the role of teaching and mentoring.

I have known Mr. Jaremy Turner all his life. He has always been ambitious and curious. In the early 80’s, when IBM, computers came on the scene, my daughter bought one. Jaremy was 7. He learned how to work on the computer and tried to teach me. Also with his Dad’s help he learned how to fix the computer by taking it apart and putting it back together. My grand is going to blow your mind one day.
